We replaced our GE freezer that served us well for 26 years. It still worked but was
running all the time so we upgraded to save some operating cost as well as the frost
free feature which we did not have. We love the controls on the door. We did order
2 additional shelves to help us organize the food.

Problem with Freezer Restarting

After a brief power outage at my house, the freezer did not re-start. It only started up again after I unplugged and re-plugged it in. I am concerned this could happen when I am on vacation and I might lose hundreds of dollars of food.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Pretty and roomy

I had a GE no frost upright freezer 7 years ago and love it. Now I need a bigger one. This GE model (20.2 cu) is definitely a big improvement. It runs very quietly and all the features are great. I hope it lasts and works as good as the previous one.

Great freezer, has lots of room, I love the feature of an alarm that lets you know if the door is not closed all the way

Not Like The Older One

We purchased a similar GE upright freeze about 15 years ago and the quality of the shelves and how the shelves were secured in place was more superior to the those in the new GE freezer. The new shelves are not as sturdy and can slip out of the holes in the side of the freezer. After loading one shelf it slipped out causing the ends to bend and spilling the contents of the shelf onto the floor. In addition we had to order a new shelf to replace one of the damaged shelves that came with the new freeze. GE should have stayed with the design that worked for them in the past....we will see if the freezer will last as long as our first GE Freezer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Have just recently purchased and started to use... Being 20 cu.ft.+, I feel that it could have came with an additional shelf and/or smaller sliding basket....
I would recommend this to a friend!
