I have Otterbox products on all of my families phones and tablets. I dropped my tablet, which was wrapped in an Otterbox Commuter, down a flight of stairs. I was watching it impact what appeared at the time to be every step... I picked it up and not a mark on it and functioning like nothing ever happened. Well Worth the Money!!!

Weak Lips

I have used a Commuter series case on my S4 for about 2-1/2 years. Some would say that I have gotten the good out of the case. Indeed, it has worked well to protect my phone. One drawback I observed after about 6 months of use: the thin rubber edge/lip of the slip cover that runs around the perimeter of the front of the phone (especially around the home button and the headphone jack) has stretched out and no longer stays against the shell. Although cosmetic in nature, I would like to see this edge beefed up or reinforced somehow...
p.s. I am about to purchase a Commuter case for my new S6.

I've had this case on my phone for over 2 years now. I drop my phone a lot (onto concrete, gravel, tile, wood floors, ice) and I've never had anything happen to my phone. A couple dents on the edge of the case, but my phone is fine.
I only just recently broke the case by pulling on the plastic part near the phone charger to get it out of my pocket. But I will definitely be getting a replacement shell cover.
Greatest phone case ever.

Mediocre quality for the price

We purchased this for my wife's S4 a few months ago. When is arrived, the self ashesive screen saver arrived damaged because it was shipped in flexible packing and it got bent.
It was primply replaced (good customer service). The new saver was installed and looked good, but after only a short tI'm it started coming lose from the screen.
I would think that for the high price of this case, Otter would have come up with a better quality screen saver to go with the extremely well made case.
If you don't care about the screen saver, the rest of the case is top notch.
I would not recommend the case, just because of the poor quality screen saver.

The Negative Reviews Are Missing the Target

I am a military aviator and constantly beat my phone up while working, and this case has held up great for a few months. It is a good compromise between maximum protection and sleekness, and I reviewed it as such. You should love this case for rough-use protection in a sleek package, without unnecessary bells and whistles (e.g.: weekend warrior belt clip or a one-shot-use built-in screen protector).
It is not "ballistic" (term used very loosely); if you drop your phone from a substantial height, it may break. It is not primarily an appearance/comfort enhancing accessory and has hard points to increase protection around the front of the phone; if you press it hard against your face it will probably hurt... so just don't do that. I have never experienced any discomfort with the case as other reviews have stated.
If you buy this product for aesthetic purposes and are disappointed about its appearance aging naturally with use or the practical aspects causing discomfort, maybe the best solution is to go get a silicon case with some teeny bopper graphics on it. Likewise, if you want to test Newton's Laws with your Commuter-clad S4 you will likely be shelling out some bills for a new phone, so be realistic with expectations of a mid-level-protection system at this price point.
Great product.

Nice case

Bought this case a few days ago after weeks of searching for the perfect case for me. I didn't want anything bulky but I wanted it protected. So far so good. doesn't add much to it and I seems like it can take a hit.... not that i was throwing it against the wall or anything. And to top it off it came in a cute pink and gray, and doesn't look to tacky on my white S4 like most other cases. The only thing I would ask is that Otterbox make a design your own case for the communicator series too so I could have got white instead of the gray. The only thing I can really complain about was the screen cover that came with it was defective. and has to bumps in it from being bent prior to me buying it and it also scratches somewhat easily, But that was nothing a new military grade self healing screen protector couldn't fix.
Thank you Otterbox you've done it again!!!!!

The case is great, just like I expected from Otter Box. But the included screen protector is totally unacceptable. The screen protector is a static (dry) attachment, and attracts all dust nearby during the peel of backing process. In addition the screen protector come with labels telling you which side goes to the phone. Well, these labels do not come fully off the screen protector and leave adhesive behind. You will need to either scrub & clean the supplied with screen protector and than wet attach it, or go buy another better screen protector as I did.
Pros: High quality, Durable
Cons: unacceptable screen protector
