Disappointed in this case

I'm disappointed with this case.
I chose this case for my Galaxy S4 over the Defender because I didn't want to add the additional bulk. For the most part I liked it and it suited my needs just fine. They didn't have the best colors when I bought it but okay, I got over that and it seems to me the grip on it could be made better but overall I like the design. Just this morning however, I dropped my phone less than 2 feet in its case onto its back onto the bathroom floor. The screen went black - the screen was cracked and I am so very salty! If I'd dropped this down a flight of stairs or onto concrete or something I wouldn't have been surprised at the outcome. But I wasn't even standing up when it fell!! I'm really surprised by this and didn't expect it from Otter box. Also several of the reviews mention a screen protector, I don't know which version that is but mine doesn't have one and it would benefit from one. I also have not experienced any fading as mentioned in other reviews. I would love to give this case a better review as I was happy with everything except the one most important thing the blasted case was supposed to do....protect my phone!
