Water constantly pools just like others reported

Fridge worked great for the first couple of years, then we learned the hard way about having to manually defrost it because the drain hole freezes up almost immediately when the fridge is plugged back in. The drainage hole is tiny, and the default fridge temperature is set quite low which is an automatic recipe for a frozen drain hole causing water to overflow into the lower cavity of the fridge. Numerous times the fridge has been completely emptied, left unplugged, defrosted entirely, inner panel removed, cleaned (including the drainage hole and pipe) but the same problem occurs again and again and again. I now have to keep a towel by the bottom drawers to soak up the excess water and I have to replace that water-logged towel every 3 days. I agree with others experiencing this problem, that this fridge has a serious design flaw.

this product does have great features

I love all the features on this product, but, after nearly 5-months of use, this is a little smaller than my prior brand product for the cost. The ice maker takes up too much space on the inside door.
One item i am disappointed in is the water/ice system on the exterior door. The spout points inward toward the door, making it inconvencient to set a glass down to catch the flow, so you have to hold the glass or bottle for the water to flow into it.
But, overall, a good choice for our household. I love the lightning inside the refrigerator; I like the size of the freezer and the drawer inside the freezer.
I would recommend this to a friend!

PFSS6PKXSS

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been a very satisfied consumer using GE kitchen products for over 40 years. To my dismay, I purchased a new "state of the art" refridge model PFSS6PKXSS after my old GE
gave out from 1981which had worked flawlessly.
First, no butter tray was even enclosed. Secondly, I can't even fit a water bottle under the outside dispenser to fill it without spilling all over the tray. Thirdly, my freezer has built up frost all over the compartments and on the sides of the draw numberous times resulting in the removal of the draw and cleaning off all the food and repacking the drawer. When I contacted C.S., I was told that was normal and I should make sure the drawer is closed effectively each time. I also contacted my retailer and was told the same story. Really!
My new Profile Stove is excellent. I wish I could say the same for my fridge.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Too many problems
on July 2, 2013

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have experienced many of the same problems reported here and online. Water collects under the deli tray constantly. This requires removal of the tray and sopping up the water monthly to prevent damage to my floors. sometimes that water freezes into a 1/4 inch solid sheet of ice. Frost forms on the air flow ports in the back of the fridge. The cooling element in the back eventually freezes solid preventing airflow. Restricted airflow results in inconsistent temperature. The ice machine never kept up with demand even when new. Now it makes 1 to 2 racks of ice per week. I have also had unusual problems with frost in the freezer.
I suspect design flaws in the defrost function of this unit. Condensation is not properly draining. I took this unit out of service for a full day to completely defrost, verified the drain was clean - 3 months later, same problems were evident.
I am sorely disappointed, I researched this thoroughly before purchase. It is a beautiful design with all the features I needed. Sadly, proper function did not follow.

This fridge only makes a tiny amount of ice per day, and it constantly goes through filters. Junk.

Do Not buy

After 7 years our GE Profile refrigerator has started having issues that are so complex, that two different companies that have come out cannot diagnose the issue. The panel beeps at all hours of the day and night, as if some zombie is changing the temperature inside the refrigerator and setting off the panel.

The Truth

GE did not make this fridge. Many of the old GE fridges were made by Samsung, and they were terrible! Much better nowadays since Haier took over!

Great for a couple of years

Fridge was purchased and installed in 2009 and worked very well. It has a feature that is supposed to remind you to replace the water filter which never worked but that wasn't a big deal. It never really made a lot of ice but we learned to deal with that as well. Ice maker completely stopped working and was replaced out of warranty on July 7, 2012. Tech said the new ice maker had some changes including better air flow and a metal screw to disperse ice. The new ice maker was much better. Fast forward to March 30, 2020 and the ice maker has failed again. And now there is water pooling beneath the crisper drawer. I have to soak this up every 3 weeks or it freezes and then overflows into the bottom freezer. Tech ordered the ice maker rain and replaced the heat probe, ASM cover evap plus cleaned out the drain tube. When he came back to install the ice maker I told him the water was still pooling under the crisper tray. He checked all drains and parts and said "there' nothing else I can do". So I soak the water out every 3 weeks. Ice maker failed again and I scheduled a service call for September 22, 2021. Ice maker should be covered under the 5 year warranty for replacement parts. While I'm waiting for the service call the fridge starts a loud humming that comes and goes. There were a few ice cubes in the tray but when I checked it yesterday the tray had water in it and no ice cubes. I figure this one is reaching it's end of life and we purchased a new fridge. Just called to cancel the service appointment for next week.
