now i have all the cod's and this one has to definetely be the best one ever. i had some skeptism when treyarch was making it but they did an amazing job. It is definetely a MUST GET and you get more for your money than halo and gears of war. TRust this games blew my mind, there are some not so great things about it like the bazookas arent strong and the connection sometimes messes up. If you liked cod4 you would definetely like this game. I didnt like WW2 style games but this one is beastly. BUY IT! Congrats to treyarch and activision.
What's great about it: The graphics, the guns, the mpaas, the game modes, and the zombies

I played through the solo game and it made me want to play CoD4 instead. I got bored a few times playing this. The graphics are not as crisp and its very short. The AI is kind of dumb too. Once or twice I got stuck because my "troops" wouldnt move out of the way. Its bloody and more gritty which is kinda cool but not enough to buy this game. Just go buy CoD4 instead.
What's great about it: Voice overs, flamethrowers
What's not so great: Too short, not as good as CoD4

I purchased this game yesterday 11/18/2008 I thought it would be good as cod4. Graphics are okay. Levels are more bigger and can do alot more like drive tanks and set attack dogs on other ppl. But other than what I have played it is an okay game. I would rather be playing cod4 more up to date guns and technology, the old war play just doesn't cut it no more. So I would definitely recommend renting, before buying. See yesterday I was going to get Gears Of War 2 over cod5 but I like cod4 so I wanted to see what it would be like. Should have went with GOW2. Returning game for GOW2.

If you think Call of duty 4 when you see this game think again. First of all the story doesn't make you care about whats going on. The pacific story is almost a joke they got it all wrong. You don't get to fight on the famed island of iwo jima. The enemy AI doesn't coordinate the infamous banzi charges. Which are supposed to be an entire company charging at you, no they go single file one at a time. The sound is awful. Cod 4 did an amazing job with the sound. But the sounds of the guns in this are like clicks, airsoft guns, paintball guns just not guns. The flame thrower is cool for all of 5 minutes. Not everything in the environment is burnable. Certain trees and bushes will burn but 60 percent of the stuff just doesn't burn. The enemy always knows where you are in this game. Grenades will constantly bounce of your face and snipers will shoot a hole in the cover your behind right where your head is. Your allies might as well not even be there they'll stand as a soldier charges by them to stab you, and sprint out in the open and die. The gameplay consists of endless enemy respawns until you move forward to trigger something. It has the old you against the world feeling most of the time. The one redeeming quality of the single player is that you can affect the story in think fast moments. Save members of your squad from enemies if you shoot first and think later during certain moments. Theres a new mode called zombies where you and up to 4 people survive wave after wave of zombies while holding up in a house earning points to purchase guns, ammo, repair barracades it's more fun than campaign. The multiplayer is entertaining but not a cod 4. The maps are big. Much more room to move around and not the two or three possible paths cod 4 had. Tanks have made a comeback and can be used on many multiplayer maps. There are a lot of unlockable guns and new perks. However the higher level guns clearly dominate the field. The m16 problem of cod 4 is gone and no one gun is that good anymore. It has spawning problems though often placing you directly in front of an enemy or in the middle of a crossfire. The time limits are not long enough in my opinion, especially in time consuming games like war. Prestige now has a purpose. As you gain prestige you unlock open custom slots. If it didn't have the slogan call of duty on it i doubt it would be doning as well as it is. Overall it's an entertaining game but compared to the other holiday releases i would recommend to wait for the price to drop. Not worth 60 bucks.
What's great about it: New additions to online, a lot of weapons, Multiplayer is decent

I was surprised to see the COD series revert back to WW2 time era, after what Infinity Ward did with COD 4 and made the game more modern. I like the new perks that are in the game, artillery strike, unleash a pack of dogs against the opposition, drive tanks and have a co-gunner. COD will always be fun
What's great about it: New weapons, Zombie mode...
What's not so great: COD used to be fun when fighting against the germans.

This game is alot of fun online Esp. with the NXE any friends you are partied up with will show a different color on your mini map. The online is solid good for hours of play time... but as i stated before if you are thinking COD4 you will hate this game... if you really enjoyed COD3 its an awesome upgrade to that game and totally fun! Campaign is a little disapointing but you make a run thru it once beat it and then its an online game from there on out!
What's great about it: Online is great, can play for hours, fun with friends
What's not so great: if you are thinking COD4 you will be dissapointed think COD3 upgrade

It's true, WWII weapons aren't as fun as Modern Combat weapons until you finally start unlocking the better ones. The game has some great maps, you still have achievements, challenges, ranking up, different perks now when you Prestige, not just a symbol. You can play the campaign (usually single player) now with up to 4 friends (2 split-screen and 2 online)and you still have the large number of people available to play with online like COD:4. Some of the low reviewers are complaining about only 4 players online - that is for the campaign, not the online play that everyone has come to love on COD:4. My opinion is still out on whether it is better than COD:4 or not, but then again, this isn't COD:4. This is World at War. Try it! I'll see you online.
What's great about it: Another great first-person-shooter
What's not so great: Reverting back to WWII agter Modern Combat
