Stupid. This game was very disappointing to me, especially after loving COD4. Why would you want to go back to world war 2 after having such great succes with modern warfare? I bought this game on a hunch because everyone said that it was cool. I beg to differ. I did not find this game to be any goog. Yes, it has that great graphics and all. The online is sort of the same as COD4, but just why go back to WWII. I think it's stupid especially after having the game of the year. I just dont get it. If you love COD4 chances are you will not like this game, unless you like WWII and old guns.

This game is pretty simmilar to Call of Duty 4 except that it is set during WWII. It seems some people are turned off by this and do not know why a developer would go back to an old formula after a title was just named Game of the Year. A game takes a few years to be developed so this title was made before Activison knew that COD 4 would be a hit. There is a multiplayer campain in this game which is new for the series. The ranking system is simmilar to that of COD 4. You stil get specials for getting numbers of kills in row. The one that is most changed is the 7 kills gets you a dog attack now which is pretty cool. Check this game out if you like shooters or the Call of Duty series. Maybe the next one will be set in modern times.
What's great about it: Mutiplayer campain mode, dog attact
What's not so great: WWII but that is ok with this game

This game is OK. The single player matches up to Call of Duty 4 if not excedes it. The multiplayer is not as good though. The good weapons are way too hard to unlock and there are too many different ranks. But I really liked how they added veichles to the maps. That really improved the game.

Overall, World at War was a good game. It was however, a little bit of a letdown after the big shoes COD4 left to fill. While it is possibly the best WWII game on the market, it lacks a few aspects. Even though it has been done many times in other games, I think at least one of the major battles of D-Day or iwo Jima should have been added. Which then leads me to the fact that there is no US vs Germany. I know the differences in the time periods of the war, but I think they should have included a few battles in the game, and online play. Some of the graphics are good in the game (i.e. some landscape, tanks, etc.), while others aren't very good at all (dogs, some random objects throught the map...) The weapons are a little more challenging to use sometimes, but there is a good variety and have most of the major guns of the era. The M1 Garand, M1A1, Kar98K, Springfield 1903, MP44, etc. The tanks are also a good addition in online play. They can be annoying at times, but it presents a different kind of challenge and mixes things up a bit. As far as real damage, I love the fact they made it more realistic with physical damage to the character, however, I wish they had more physical surrounding damage by flamethrowers, tanks, etc. The flamethrowers can burn some trees, but not others, and I believe the tanks should be able to cause damage to some buildings and such. Overall, it was worth the money, more-so for the online play, but I think there are a few things they could have done better if they would have taken more lessons from COD4.
What's great about it: Some graphics, physical damage/gore, large maps, different weapons, zombies
What's not so great: Some graphics, no Iwo Jima or Normandy, no US vs Germany,

I loved COD4, so I bought this game without even checking into it to make sure it was good. I can't say that I am disappointed, but I am not totally thrilled. It is a good game, but the old weapons are hard to use after playing COD4. Yes, I understand that they are from WWII, but they are still hard to use and get used to. I do like the game, but COD4 is still much better.
What's great about it: On-line play - good single player

Call of Duty World at War is just awesome. I played Call of Duty 4 and loved it, and when I heard that Call of Duty World at War didn't get as much positive review as COD4, I got a little upset. But I still bought it. And it's awesome. The campaign is much better than COD4, graphics are good, multiplayer is fun, and you really feel like you're a soldier fighting in WWII. The zombies level is really fun as well. I highly recommend this game to any gamer who likes first person shooters or the Call of Duty series. In my opinion, this is the best in the series.
What's great about it: campaign, graphics, multiplayer
