Neither of the two cartridges worked when installed in the printer. I got a third one from a local merchant which functioned properly. I am looking for a way to return these two cartridges.

I am sorry that the other cartridges didn't work for you. I can understand if you are not happy with that. However, there seems to be some confusion.
You talk about Black cartridges, but it looks like you ordered a Photo one on this order. They are not interchangeable. The Photo cartridge only works in printers that use 5 cartridges, while all of them use the plain black one.
A few years ago, HP found that customers were sometimes mistaking the cartridges labeled 'Photo Black' for the regular black cartridges. Because of that, HP renamed the cartridges 'Photo' rather than 'Photo Black'. Here is a link to some online information about the renaming: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01839024

I bought this item because they told me that was original, but when I put in my printer didn't work and also the computer show a message that said, this cartridge is not original, was refil
I was running out of photo black ink and the quality of print was poor. I ordered two cartridges. It took almost a month for delivery. The delivery hit at least six states before I received it. I removed the old cartridge and put in the new on. The print was very poor, illegible. I removed the new cartridge and put in the second one that I purchased. Now the printer is working fine.

I'm trying to understand why the price of your ink is skyrocketing and we're getting the same amount or less ink in the cartridge. The price of ink has increased almost every year. Ridiculous. And your PhotoSmart printer is garbage, which, is why you must've discontinued it. I am so disappointed in your products I may never buy them again.
