My most often played game

I just picked this up today, and got the last copy. For those that have played rock band and loved it, you will Love this twice as much, and you will have never known you could love a video game so much. lol
First off, the music is excelent, a great variety of classics and more recent songs. The new freestyle drum mode is the best thing yet, i love to turn on some of my music and try to match the drumming, or just fiddle around coming up with my own beats.
As far as the new instruments, i dont know yet, but if the old ones are anything to go by, they will be amazing. Im hoping to someday pick up the new guitar, and most likely the new drum set, cause my drum set is just beat because i use it almost every day to take a break after highschool.
The sound quality is excelent, especialy since I'm running it through 2 JBL Floorstanding speakers. Even on the built in TV speakers it sounds fairly good, but i highly recomend getting something a bit better. If your on a tight budget I would recommend some JBL Shelf speakers, they are fairly small, and pack some great sound.
Great game for anyone who loves music.
What's great about it: takes the first Rock Band, and makes it even better
What's not so great: none

Overall its a good family game, or if you want to just play with your freinds. The graphics could be some what better. The difficulty is challenging enough for the people who play alot and who have mastered most of the songs. They could use some better songs.
What's great about it: Has band play.
What's not so great: Not great graphics, the songlist could be better.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Better than RB1 and GH WT

This is the best music game on the market right now. Guitar Hero World Tour is great, but it has alot of flaws just like RB1 did. But with RB2, they have fixed those flaws that couldn't be fixed in GH because it was their first full band game. The song list on this is incredible, and the gameplay is still phenominal. There aren't really any changes in graphics and gameplay, but they were great on the first one so it doesn't matter. The drums are once again the best, and have been upgraded. GO GET THIS GAME RIGHT NOW!
What's great about it: fixed the instruments, fun, great songs, online, battle of the bands, EVERYTHING
What's not so great: NOTHING is bad about this game at all

playing this game is fun no doubt but to be honest the songs are pretty much from mostly unheard bands if you gonna call a game rockband at least toss in a few real rock bands such as def leppard loverboy poison maybe some new wave bands say split endz the cure real life you get the idea being older these are types of groups id preferr some songs that are good are from dlc so that cost a fortune just to dl those hopefully if theres a rockband 3 they will improve the song list prior to have to buy them via dlc
What's great about it: just fun to play
What's not so great: most songs are terrible least thats my taste

The funnest music game on the market. GH is more challenging but this game is more about getting a group of people to have some fun and rock out with.
What's great about it: New songs for download each week
What's not so great: Very easy at times, but I guess fun is more important here.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is a good game, the graphics are awesome and the songs are good, the down side though is that this is practically RB1 with different songs, same default characters, same customization options, etc. it's a good game other wise and worth the price
What's great about it: songs, multi-player
What's not so great: same game as rock band 1 but different songs

This game failed to include songs engraved into the public. its hard to find anyone who knows the melody enough to sing the songs. But my biggest complaint is the amount of European punk rock songs they added. They are the lamest type of music for this game, drums aren't fun when its just random hitting with no real beat or groove, and it seems that generally these euro-trash/punk rock songs have terrible drum parts, awful melody, terrible lyrics and a repetitive guitar part.
I do like that the drum parts have been kicked up a notch and they have added some new patterns. In RB 1, I could sight read most of the songs on expert and pass, this game I have seen plenty I cannot sight read.
Its great to be able to download songs I know people will recognize, I just wish the game CAME with good songs in the first place.
What's great about it: Download good songs
What's not so great: Half the songs aren't relevent to the united states culture.

So-So Overall

I love the original Rock Band and really looked forward to the release of Rock Band 2. The changes to gameplay are just what the doctor ordered. You can play world tour by yourself on any instrument, change instruments, play world tour with friends online, and the horrid band leader problem has been removed. There IS no band leader. A "5" for all of that, Harmonix hit the nail right on the head.
The music...there are some real gems in this version, no doubt about it. But quite honestly, a lot of the music just plain stinks. Unimaginative, generic stuff that any garage band could write (and maybe a lot of garage bands did write it). I played for about 3 hours last night and there were long stretches when I felt like I was hearing the same song over and over...I was so bored with a lot of it that it just blurred together.
Now this is coming from someone who is as open-minded with music as anyone you'll ever meet. I might start out listening to Radiohead, switch to Patsy Cline, then Jay-Z, then Black Sabbath, and finish up with Beethoven. I love all kinds of music but most of the music here just doesn't cut it for me.
I'll keep playing and maybe it will grow on me. I'll update if that's the case. But, for true enjoyment it's going to have to be make your own setlist gigs or just quickplay with the good nuggets and your favorite DLC.
What's great about it: much-improved gameplay
What's not so great: songs are poor overall
