Mac OS 10.5.6 wireless scanning concern and remedy
on January 5, 2009

Flawless, easy wireless printing and scanning installation with Windows XP via BootCamp and AirPort on a MacBook Pro.
With Mac OS 10.5.6 and AirPort, wireless printing installed readily but wireless scanning could not be installed from the WorkForce 600 disk or WorkForce 600 downloads from Epson because the Epson Scan Settings could not be launched.
Was only able to launch the Epson Scan Settings and successfully install wireless scanning by downloading the Epson #12681, Artisan 800 Scan Drive and Epson Scan Utility.
Once the wireless scanning capability problem with Mac OS 10.5.6 was overcome, by using the Artisan 800 download, installation continued easily.
The WorkForce 600 performs wireless and admirable in both Windows XP and Mac OS 10.5.6 operating systems using the same MacBook Pro computer and AirPort network.

warranty hopscotch

Only had the 600 for a week. So far so good. Noisy paper feed. My problem with this printer is that there was no warranty information or registration card included. After registering on-line still could find no reference to the 2-year warranty as listed in the store. After calling India a few times they led me through the web maze to find it. Hassle.

An excellent printer/scanner/copier/fax

This is my second Epson 4 way, the first was a CFX 9400 or something close to that. The difference for me is that the scanner can load 50 pages of manuscript and create one .pdf. As an academic, it is useful to ship things around. The quality of the black and white print is very good, and the color photos, once photoshopped is excellent. This Epson is extremely rugged, my prior one which is a back up, is not nearly as rugged. I would recommend this to anyone--I have both a Mac on 10.5.6 and a PC on Vista Home Premium, Loading the Mac was a breeze, loading the PC was a bit more complicated, but once the directions were followed, was relatively simple

The WF600 was easy to install if you follow directions. The wireless is great, and the speed even better.
Prints clear, fast and from anywhere in the house or office

I am putting this printer back into the box and taking back today. Set-up was fairly easy, however it literally takes minutes for one page to print over the network, both wired and wireless.

I have to say, that I can not believe that Epson does not make a Fax printer that will not work with a digital phone service. That came from Epson. I guess my question is WHY. I think Epson prints better than anybody. Now I need more than just a printer. Can’t use Epson, better get yourselves an engineer that do Digital. I don’t know if you guys are aware of this but everything now days is Digital.
