I just installed my new Canon 9000F Mk II Scanner, and scanned four slides from a trip I took to Hong Kong in 1962 An amazing piece of equipment. Fast, sharp and easy to use. Canon at its best. Canon PERIOD!

The CanoScan 9000F Mark II is everything it is advertised
to be plus, I have hundreds of pictures, slides and negitives to copy onto my computer. The unit has worked
faithfully and very cleanly. Easy to operate, easy to understand functions and just a pleasure to do the needed jobs I need it to accomplish.
Thanks for a great scanner,
macB

Perfect scanner, does what itbsays

I bought this scanner to digitize photo albums and slides and negatives from over 40 years. The scanner is big enough in surface area to scan multiple photos at once if they are smaller in size, and can capture larger sizes easily. I scan 35mm plus 120mm film and even slides. I scan documents and make them PDFs, scan to email and scan to storage drives. I work with Mac so I can't speak to the Windows issue. But this scanner is perfect and does everything as advertised. I highly recommend.

Software failure
on March 8, 2014

The scanner itself works fine and I like it. But starting about 6 months ago the software failed -- it will not even start up, so in order to use the scanner I have to use Photoshop Elements 11 since the Canon software is gone. Canon support is unable to figure out what is wrong and the suggestions they make -- to remove other scanning and imaging software from TWAIN32 is of no use because there is no other software there. The other suggestion relates to changing administrators but this is a sole user computer and the administrator has not changed. Why would either of these matter since the Canon software worked fine for six months and then stopped but the computer setup has not changed? The Canon software must no longer be compatible with Windows 7.
Pros: Fast auto-focus, Superior build quality, Super-sharp images
Cons: software driver won't boot up

Two Things I Don't Like
on March 13, 2014

I have been using the Canon 9000F MKII for six months to scan color slides that are very sharp. Typical scans are at 1800 or 2400 dpi. My major concern is the scan is never sharp. There had been a previous complaint about sharpness and for that user, the problem was resolved by changing out the scanner. I don't know if my problem is hardware or software. I always have to adjust the sharpness and only occasionally anything else. However, making this adjustment increases the file size from typically 700k to 2500k or more.
My second concern is that after the initial scan, the file is in a jpg format which is lossy. Why couldn't it be in a loss less format (jif or png) until the final tweeks are made? Scan Gear provides only the one format , jpg.
I'll struggle along but will always have a nagging feeling that something is wrong. IIs there a firmware adjustment that can be made?

Should also have hoders to scan 126 negatives and

There was a lot of 126 and 110 film sold in the past that I would like to scan. I like the resolution of this scanner but I can't scan my files of 126 and 110 negatives as there is no provision for it in the hardware or the software. Get with it Canon.

Great purchase for me

At one time I had my own dark room enlarger. It had gotten boxed up when I moved to a another city.
I had a shoe box my mother left with all different years of negatives.
All the changes from film to the new cameras i thought that I probably not get to make prints from my old negatives.
I have built a folder from slides, color negatives, and the old b/w negatives.
I have made folders off albums that my wife had been wanting to save to disc.

I have been using my 9000F Mark II for a year now.
I have scanned documents and photographs with
it and am quite satisfied with the performance of
the equipment. Software package is also satisfactory.
Pros: excellent images.
Cons: none found as yet.
