Great machine!

After my last horrible Dell XPS experience, I decided to switch brands. No regrets with this Lenovo system. I did have to wipe out Windows 8 and reinstall 7 which was tricky (had to disable UEFI / enable legacy boot in the BIOS) but otherwise the system has been great. Went with the ATI card for reliability (Nvidia has just let me down way too many times in the past, sure its fast but they burn out very often).
My only 1 issue with reliability is the gaming keyboard. It keeps losing power for no apparent reason, have to unplug it and replug it in. It's basically a rebranded Saitek, had an exact model (was silver though) and never had it just go out like its doing now, so perhaps its just a bad keyboard.
Pros: Processor, Memory, Video card, Storage
Cons: Keyboard/peripherals

Very fast and powerful

I do serious product development which requires a lot of programming. 3D CAD and PCB layout work. Speed of the processor and drive I/O are very important. This computer doesn't even breathe hard on my most challenging work. The only problem is that the driver required for the mouse and keyboard is not the one that comes with the machine, and the technical help line people don't have a clue where I can get one that will use their true capabilities. They install as just a standard keyboard and mouse. If it were not for this, I would have given it 5 stars.
Pros: Processor, Memory, Video card, Screen size, Build Quality, Storage, Display resolution, Display performance
Cons: Support, Keyboard/peripherals, Included Software

Great for upgrading

The Erazer x700 is awesome with liquid cooling, ram, and design. It is very large and I can easily install new hardware. I got the cheapest one, because everything it came with was great. Except the Graphics Card. The gtx 660 is a good card, but it just can't play games on the highest settings. So when I got the computer I replaced it with a EVGA gtx 780. I also don't like windows 8, so I downgraded to windows 7. Now this computer is the ultimate beast!
Pros: Input/Output compatibility, Warranty, Memory, Keyboard/peripherals, Storage
Cons: Video card, Processor, windows 8

First disappointment

This is my first bad experience with Lenovo. I had purchased a couple of laptops for work that performed perfectly but I wanted a moderately priced gaming machine and the X700 seemed like a good candidate. As soon as I got it out of the box and turned it on, it started having strange little white flecks randomly appearing on the screen. As I went through the Windows 8 setup, the screen flashed red and then came back. By the time I logged in the graphics driver had crashed and restarted several times. I called support and spent an hour on the phone as the tech support guy went through his script. I ran out of time and started up again later with another tech support person. Finally, they exhausted all their options and offered to send a tech to my house, but by then I had had enough. I asked for a full refund and got it. Maybe next time, Lenovo.

In Short: Only Win 8 - no downgrade option. You have to format and install a fresh win 7 copy. It supports two 8950 cards, but you actually have to remove your wireless NIC to get them to fit - VERY POOR. BTW, the 8950 is just a rebadged 7950 - Cable management is non existent - looks like a jumbled mess inside. Pricing fluctuates weekly - Its 2499 in Canada at Best Buy - The case is this computers best feature - looks awesome. Too bad Lenovo missed the boat completely on this "gaming" system.
Pros: Warranty, Video card
Cons: Video card, Security Features, Included Software, Software compatibility, Build Quality

Nice machine

Despite a few surprises such as the language of the OS and the noise of the liquid cooled CPU, it is really a good value for the money.
I would have expect to receive a full documentation stored on the computer, but found a link and had to download a rather incomplete User Guide.
I received an invitation to answer this review where my first name (André) was became something like Andr?
