printer drains ink. Constant cleaning empties color inks even if you only print in B&W. Will not print with empty color inks even if you select black / gray scale printing. Dont but it

I ran out of black ink. I replaced 126 with brand-new 126. Printer does not recognize new 126.
Please explain and help.
Thank you,
Arthur

not as good as R200 series

I bought the 30 as a possible replacement for the R200s and R220s I run - usually 3 at a time. The 30 may be a little faster, but the print quality, especially on photo paper, is not equal to the older printers. Shadow details are muddy, color tones are quite inaccurate, and text is not as sharp or dark, even when adjusted with software and new cartridges. This also holds true when compared to the epson 1400 I use for larger format prints. What a disappointment. It is probably the difference between the R200's and 1400's six-cartridge system and the 30's four-cartridge system. I've always used epson, and that's not going to change. So, if photo and text quality is important to your small business, make sure the printer has at least a six-cartridge system. The advertisement that the Workforce 30 is made for the small office is misleading. It implies that the printer produces prints and text that a small office would want to have its name on. What will I do with the 30? I am giving it away.

Very Satisfied

I have been using printers for over 30 years. After using a well known Brand for 25 years and getting no help from their support team I switched to Epson. First one for my wife and now for myself. Epson support answered my problem in one day and it was solved.

NOT best for black and white printing
on November 5, 2013

Printer works well for both color and black and white prints, but if an ink cartridge runs out the device will not print. This includes all ink- yellow, red, blue and BOTH blacks. Very frustrating. When you buy the combination pack of ink it only comes with ONE black ink. Epson designed the machine to only run when BOTH blacks have ink in them, so you would have to buy the combination pack AND an additional black just to print. I work in a school and need to buy my own ink. I bought this printer knowing that most of my printing would be in black and white, but wanted to know that I would have the capability to print in color if needed. I did not realize that I would have to purchase as much ink as I do. This is an expense I did not expect when purchasing the printer. The basic price of the unit may seem reasonable, but once you realize how much ink you need to buy, you will find it is not.

Small Printer w/ Big Quality

This printer has excellent print quality, and is very fast. It does chug a little when you haven't printed anything for a while, but once it gets warmed up it's great. Paper runs through smoothly and it's nice and compact but will also do 2-sided printing. I would like an envelope feeder, but it seems that no printers have them anymore. The only negative so far is that it seems to be going through the ink very quickly!

I find it works well with heavier papers such as card stock, while many others do not.
