Poor Build Quality

Our installer found concealed damage when he removed the overpack box. The control panel was skewed out at the top because the two plastic positioning tabs were not seated in the sheet metal locating slots. One of the positioning tabs had broken off and was taped to the sheet metal chassis with the same filament tape used to hold all the packaging material in place.
I surmise that someone on the assembly line pushed on the control panel and broke off the positioning tabs. GE and I are not off to a good relationship.

Pros: Made in America. Great appearance alongside Profile refrigerator inside and out. Nice interior oven space lighting. Cooks very evenly. Preheat is faster because the convection fan is used in both baking modes. Roomy with multiple racking options and slide mounted rack. Very easy and intuitive controls. Complete temp and timer controls for each oven. Overall fit and finish is excellent.
Cons: Wire racks can be difficult to maneuver and don't rack in and out as positively as expected. Convection fan is noisier than expected, although not objectionable.

Satisfied with my purchase

We purchased primarily to match our other appliances (handle design). We had a GE Profile oven previously that was installed before we bought the house. When the the control panel went, I found my excuse to replace the white appliance with this stainless one. GE also had a free install promo which was a plus as I wasn't sure if I wanted to attempt this myself and it's a good thing I didn't. Even though we were replacing a GE profile double oven with another, the new oven is a little shorter. Fortunately GE provided a taller bottom plate to cover the gap and my installer was able to build up the cabinet bottom.
The oven is SUPER quiet. We had the store replace our first install since the fan seemed rather loud compared to all the reviews promoting out quiet the oven was. Sure enough it was a defect and the new one works just fine. We had it installed just before thanksgiving and it worked perfectly.
A new feature I like is the audible tones and alerts when the timer has finished. It's a "happy sound" and almost reminds me of the original NES games. Much better than the typical loud beeping. Another nice feature is the dimming function for the oven lights when they are turning off.
Bottom line, it looks good, has some nice new features, very quiet and it cooks well.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I haven't used it but when the installer was testing it, I was SO impressed at how insulated it is. I felt no heat coming off of the oven.

My double oven

I purchased this oven several months ago and just delighted with it. I used both oven for Thanksgiving and pleased with the results. We have not used the self-cleaning yet and that was the main reason we purchased the GE. So until we use the self-cleaning portion of the oven our overall rating could change.

Consistent cooking, fast results with convection

We had a GE convection gas freestanding range for about ten years before getting this oven, and gave us great results. The convection system in this oven seems to work in the exact same way as the previous gas range, although this oven is electric.
The controls can be a bit confusing at first because the same set of controls handle both ovens, and it won't start immediately after entering the desired temperature, but after pressing start.
The convection works very well, cutting cooking time in half compared to a regular oven. For example, a 28 p. turkey cooked in less than four hours, and using the built-in probe (cooking thermometer) made it even easier by programming the desired temperature for the meat, not the oven.
In this model, only the top oven is convection, which is the one used most. The bottom oven is the exact same size except no convection.
Note that not having the convection grill makes it a lot easier to clean.
Heating element is on top of the oven.
Doors are well balanced.
Note that when installing: This double oven is a single piece and it's very heavy. Had ours installed by a three-person crew plus the electrician.
Also note, that this model has no remote Wi-Fi control and there is no option to add it. Since it isn't something we would use on an oven, it wasn't a concern for us.
