Seems like a decent fridge - if it worked

Six days after I bought this fridge it stopped working and I had to throw out all of the food in the freezer. We had a Frigidaire rep come to the house to fix it and one day later it stopped working again. The vents in the freezer ice up (even on low/recommended settings) causing the airflow to stop and the compressor to shut down. When the ice melts, it comes back on and the cycle repeats itself. Very frustrating.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bought this fridge in March, not working by November. Bought this to replace an older refrigerator that wasn't working. This fridge has the same problem--- woke up to find my ice cream melting and my milk curdling. Why can't they make a decent appliance these days? The style and appearance are great but what good is that if it doesn't work properly?

Noisiest Refrigerator

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Food freezes fast, fridge stays nice and cold, interior layout is excellent, but, boy, is this model noisy! It also runs very frequently. When I open either the freezer or fridge door for only about 15 seconds, I can count on the motors and compressors turning on for about thirty minutes at a time within five minutes of closing the doors. I charted this: on one day, I opened the fridge only six times, but the unit turned on ten times during a 24 hour period. Each cycle lasts about 30 minutes, so that is 300 minutes or 5 hours of running each 24 hours. And when it runs, it is abnormally loud!
I had a service man come and check it, and when he saw the model, he just laughed and said this model runs loud (he also said it says that in the manual, but he was wrong about that). And then he left,without anything to fix.
Good thing I'm selling my house, because I would not want to live with this noise anymore than I have to.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us regarding your refrigerator. New refrigerators are designed to be more efficient in that they use newer components and run at a consistent speed/temperature for a longer period of time using less energy. Our refrigerators do this allow the fan components inside to run after the compressor turns on. This will allow the internal components to cool and the machine to rest even though you may still hear something running. Please let us know if you should have any other concerns.
