What's great about it: Easy to set up, great performance, good price

I purchased this NETGEAR router for my apartment studio, and it was very easy to install. I connected it directly to the ethernet cable with internet connection and used the resource CD included, following the instructions on the booklet. I have used the Wi-Fi for 2 laptops and one smart phone and had no problems so far. Excellent performance for a reasonable price. I would recommend it over another brand.

What's great about it: Quick and easy 1, 2, 3 installation.
What's not so great: It wasn't my first router
I am not one to EVER write a review, but seeing as how I read most of the reviews on this model before my purchase...my 2 cents might help someone else out. This router was purchased to replace my D-Link which died on me...and what an improvement it was! Super easy and quick installation (not sure what happened with others who purchased this unit). The network was setup and I was able to connect 2 laptops (one of which has Windows 7) in under 5 minutes. I've only been up and running for about a week, but so far there have been no issues at all. Before writing this review I connected my Blu-Ray player to the network so I can stream Netflix, I think the signal strength is much better. Also the WPS feature on it is GREAT!!! Saves you a lot of time from typing in uber long network passwords on your xbox 360 controller or Blu-Ray remote.
The only thing negative I have to say is that I wish this was my first router. Hope this helps someone as it is my first ever review.

The box works great usually, but at least 5 times a week it will drop signal and has not functioned correctly even with the help of customer service. They are sending me a new one.

What's great about it: advanced settings, wifi range, uptime of active connection network
What's not so great: ethernet not gigabyte, advertised 300mbs wireless actually 150mbs, not dual band, no external antennae,
I got this router hoping to take advantage of the advertised 300 mbps wifi but due to the router transmitting two frequencies for g/b/n wavelengths, this unfortunately limits actual transmission to under 150 mbps.
Basic setup is a breeze if a beginner purchases this router but has a decent feature set for more advanced users. Many options to allocate bandwidth, including having individual computers set with static IP's which can then be preferred by the router and allocated more bandwidth.
Router has an awesome option to be run with linux based firmware which infinitely improves feature set.
I wish the router had gigabyte ethernet and dual band wifi because then the 150 mbps wireless could be ignorable but overall the router will do more than any average consumer expects to make them smile, price may be cheaper from a new egg.....

What's not so great: Restarting router multiple times each day
Not sure if I just got a lemon or what, but must reboot router after 1 to 2 hours of use as signal just drops. We're not streaming videos or anything, just surfing the web and checking emails.

What's great about it: Barley Drops, Long Range, Works As Intended

So far I've owned this router for over 2years, and it still works as brand new. I LOVE this product and the brand, though you do pay a little more for NetGear it's totally worth it in the long run. I first owned a Belkin N 150 Wireless Router, and it was a horrible router, it worked for only half a month than it constantly dropped the internet itself. Then I owned a Cisco, it worked better but again after about a month it was useless. I had very doubts for NetGear but what other better option did I have, so i payed a little more for it and never regretted it. I probably will get the new 802.11ac NetGear routers some time, but until then I know this router will surely work for me as long as I need.
I even bought the same brand router to my friend and she never experiences any problems.

This router was easy to set up, and I was really happy when I had it working. I liked the User interface.
However after a couple of days it dropped the wireless connections completely. So I rebooted it.
That reboot button became my new very best friend! I rebooted every couple of days, then every day, then every few hours.
This Netgear router went back to BestBuy.
Got the linksys. Which is a great product.
So unless you enjoy spending time with the Netgear admin utility hitting that reboot button, buy the linksys.
However after a couple of days it dropped the wireless connections completely. So I rebooted it.

This Netgear router went back to BestBuy.

So I had to buy a new router when my brother moved out and took his with him. so i didn't want to pay too much money for one so i purchased this one. honestly the router needs to be reset constantly, and it takes a good five minutes for it to kick back on. it makes my internet wifi signal very poor and wont connect to my laptop when I'm in a different room. I also checked and it wasn't my internet itself because my internet is very good. I'm really getting fed up with it. it also wont connect to my wii or 3ds, i had no problem with the router my brother had so if you want to buy something worth your money instead of getting fed up with it I wouldn't suggest buying this.

I purchased this router to replace a 2 year old Linksys that had served us well. I had heard and read good things about Netgear's routers and was particularly interested in the boost this model was supposed to give to the signal as my old router didn't provide a signal for the entire house. It was easy to install and provided better wireless service when it worked. However, within days it started losing communication with the modum two feet away. After having the connection cut out multiple times, it finally just quit after 3 weeks. I replaced it with a CISCO Linksys router two weeks ago and have had no problems. Obviously, it is possible that I just got a bad router (which is why I didn't rate it lower) but after reading through some of the reviews here, it seems my problem is not uncommon.

This is the second Netgear router that I've had to return.
I bought it for my daughter who was getting setup in her new apartment.
I wasn't able to use the installation CD since it doesn't support Mac OS Lion, but that was not a show stopper. I just went to the Netgear web site for manual configuration instructions.
The next morning my daughter called to say that her network was "down."
Here wireless was down and she couldn't even log into the router using an ethernet cable.
She had to power the router off and back on to get connected.
The same thing happened again that afternoon.
We fought with the router for the next week. During that time I upgraded the firmware, but that did not help.
Over the two week period the wireless network never stayed up more than 24 hours.
Sometimes we could log in to the router via ethernet cable, but not always. In each case we had to power the modem off and on to bring the wireless network back up.
I finally took the router back and exchanged it for a Linksys brand.
That router has been up and running almost a month without any issues.
