Last proper G'n'R album was the UYI-I/II duet (which, btw, wasn't that goo at all). So, this is not G'n'R. This is the sound of Axl spending $1 million per year to make an overhyped album. Won't definitely meet the expectations.
What's great about it: Comes with a free Dr Pepper's

i've been a fan of GNR since the appetite days, and have been following the development of chinese democracy since at least 2003. i've heard all but three of the tracks on chinese democracy, and must say that the music is disappointing and not worth the wait. it pales in comparison to earlier GNR, and cannot compare to current artists like Radiohead who are really pushing the boundaries of pop music.
What's great about it: chinese democracy is FINALLY coming out

Very generic rock. None of the emotion and fire of previous. Of the songs on the cd only 1 of them was worth listening to more then once. I would wait and find a site streaming the cd to listen before wasting any money on this one.
What's great about it: Its Guns N Roses
What's not so great: Its not the Guns N Roses we remember. Easily their worth effort (no length of time making it could help I guess).

The question has been answered - and everyone was wrong. The People' Republic of China did not officially become a democratic nation prior to the release of Axl Rose's first full length album of new material in 17 years. With a budget that ultimately rivaled the one for the Olympic Opening Ceremonies, Axl and his hired help have created a record filled with all of the goodies Axl could want, none of which were apparently interesting music or vocals. I don't even know where I'm going with this, but I'm going back to listen to Appetitie for Destruction and crying myself to sleep.
What's great about it: We can finally stop wondering

I was excited for this album to some degree, but being a big fan of the original Guns line-up, I had low expectations based on the new Guns line-up, which, over the years, has had a roster that changed more than the old-school original L.A.Guns. When I first heard Shackler's Revenge earlier on, I was disappointed. It didn't sound even remotely Guns-like - it was way too NIN for me. I love NIN, and I know that Axl's time with Robin Finck obviously had influence, but there was too much of NIN's sound. I also was disappointed with 'Better', mainly because of the eerie falsetto voice Axl uses in the intro. I'm honestly disappointed. It sounds like a bunch of different bands mashed into one less-than-satisfying CD. Axl is just trying far too hard to compete with the old Guns, and isn't succeeding with Chinese Democracy. It took too many years to complete - and it shows.
What's great about it: Axl. And that's pushing it.
What's not so great: The lack of any consistent sound.

We waited 17 years for this? I guess it goes to show just how much Slash, Duff and the rest of the band really meant to the music. Axl just proved he is nothing without the originals.
