So I haven't technically bought it yet, but hearing the leaks and such have been enough to prove this as a superior album. Save for Death Magnetic it will be the first CD I've bought since the '90s, perhaps the last. Several of the songs are absolutely stellar (Better, There Was A Time, Madagascar), right up there with Child or Jungle. Others, like Street of Dreams aka The Blues, range from very good to decent. A couple of songs have been included of which I'm not a fan. But hey, I didn't like My World or It's So Easy either. Several tracks have never been released or performed in any form, and will thus be a complete surprise. Sebastian Bach has been drooling over Sorry for years though. Suffice to say Chinese Democracy is not Appetite part II or Use Your Illusion III, nor should it be. I don't know why so many expect to hear the sneering glam/punk/metal as if this were still 1987. Every Guns album has been of different character, and although it's too early to see exactly what this one's will be I can say it has variety. One thing all their records share is quality of the highest caliber and Chinese Democracy is no different. Buy this album if you are a fan of great music, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Not to worry people. Street of Dreams = The Blues. Mark my words : Better will be a huge radio hit along with Street of Dreams. Nice to see a couple tracks listed that were not already leaked too.
What's great about it: Finally new rock that I actually want to hear
What's not so great: Could never live up to 14 years of expectations

Well it looks like this is really happening! Yes, November 23rd will be an early Christmas for me. For everyone that's going to complain that its not the original band, and Axl sucks for making them wait 15 + years, please save your comments for the Ricky Lake show. For all the loyal Gunners out there like myself, we are in for a wonderful treat my friends. From the demos I have heard so far, my early favorites will be I.R.S, There was a Time, and Street of Dreams (previously The Blues). Not crazy about Rhiad and Catcher in the Rye but it's very possible that these tunes will grow on me over time. After all, I hated the Spaghetti Incident when it first came out, but if C.D. is at least on par with that effort I will lose my mind! I'm obviously partial here, but I really feel that once these singles hit the airwaves, rock music as we know it will be changed forever. Just like the late 80's when it all began. Long live GNR!
What's great about it: Musicians assembled on this record are more talented than the original lineup
What's not so great: But they may miss Izzy and Adler's song-writing abilities a bit. 17 years in the making=overproduced sound?

Like most of us I've heard most of the songs (10 of 14) so it is valid to post a review now. Having heard it before it's released does not mean we're not going to buy it. We've waited so long and now we get our album. Everyone should buy this album, its lyrics are beautiful and by the way fit perfectly to Axl's voice. The music is innovating, there is no slash (buy velvet revolver if you want to hear slash) but there's other great musicians that trust me, along with Axl, truly deserve to be called Guns N' Roses.
What I've heard is beautiful, sentimental, deep to the heart and to some it will be tear shedding.
My top five: There Was A Time, Prost., If The World, Better and Catcher In The Rye.
Dying to hear: Sorry and This I Love!
What's great about it: Relief, Axl is back, Wonderful lyrics, Innovative music, Powerful and a Free Dr Pepper!

It's been a loooong time coming, and I'm just as eager to own this CD now as I was then. Most of these tracks have been leaked and are awesome. Madagascar, Better, Catcher In the Rye, they are all GREAT! They are everything I've expected and more. I wonder where "The Blues" went, I think I read that "Street of Dreams" is that song, just renamed. I'll see about that. I am disappointed that this CD has a POP genre applied to it. It makes me wonder... Either way, I'm excited to add this CD to my collection.
What's great about it: It's GnR for the 21st century
What's not so great: POP, WTH is this categorized under POP for??? Not quite!!

As most of the people writing early reviews I will throw my two cents in. Have eagerly anticipated this album for close to a decade now and during that time have heard half to 3 quarters of these songs both through file sharing and in concert a couple of years ago. The awesome, Axl for all his quirks is truly a great writer of music and shows he has not lost his touch with the songs. I started playing guitar and music in general because of this band so it does hurt that Slash is not in the band, I can live without everyone else. Can't help but think in a lot of the songs I wonder what slash would have played that solo like, but all in all GNR still has it even with the new pieces. Axl - My hat is off to you as you truly showed you have not lost your way. Madagascar might be the best GNR song I have ever heard! Sweet!
What's great about it: I thought I would be dead before this album was finally released!
