This movie was amazing. I am a very big Saw fan. And for those who have seen the 4th saw movie and have no clue what happened or are very confused this moive pieces the majority of it together. This movie starts piecing together all the movies and it just leaves you amazed. By far the most important saw movie that has been made. If you seen the 4th movie an refuse to see this movie because the other one was confusing II think you should see this one because you will start to understand the 4th movie. Great movie. The ending is amazing also.
What's great about it: How the movie works with all the other 4 movies.

Many say that the "Saw" movie franchise has long since worn out its welcome, but I say that I can't wait to see more. "Saw V" picks up where "IV" left off and delves us deeper and deeper into the world of Jigsaw and his proteges. The series started off very claustrophobic and each movie has gotten larger scope while still sticking to the enclosed world of "Saw". More traps and more flashbacks as well as new games to be played. Lovers of the previous movies will be pleasantly surprised by the job of production designer David Hackl changing to director for the fifth and the upcoming sixth installments of the series. It's nice to have a new perspective on the movies from someone who has been there.
What's great about it: Everything.
What's not so great: Confusing at times, but not too much.

When I started to watch the series I was amazed at the idea of a man creating these sick and twisted traps for his own amusement. Sure, things like this are cruel, but it's the message being conveyed that makes this story (that takes 6 movies) unique from all the rest. Life is important. Don't abuse it and don't abuse someone else's. It's an obvious message, but think about it when you view the films. ----Anyway----
*Positives This particular film was great. It satisfied me in every way bringing on new traps and new mysteries. It really made me think a lot. The gore is all too realistic and it makes you wanting more and more. And there's this really irritating person in the film (won't spoil it) who I am glad died.
*Negatives We're left wanting for more meaning there wasn't enough. The film in my opinion is too short. The plot seems to fly by and worst of all..... I was able to guess how it ended. Normally I can't.
*OVERALL The film is great to watch if you're a horror/violent film fan (but don't think of it as just a GORE fest).
The film receives an 9 out of 10 from me. I put four stars because a five for me was too ignorant. This is my favorite series, but I wanted to make it as unbiased as I could.
What's great about it: Great film series, awesome visual effects
What's not so great: Wasn't my favorite sequel, but then again wasn't my least favorite

My wife and I love these movies, we can't get enough. Even without Tobin Bell (John Cramer a.k.a. Jigsaw) the game continues. I love these movies because it's not just a bunch of senseless killing and torture, there's a moral to all of it. However, this wasn't the best of the series (in my opinion), but still good enough for 5 stars. It just seemed really short to me. Don't think of these movies as sequels, this is really just one big movie seperated into segments. If you skip one, you may be a little confused. My only complaint with this one is that they say, 'You won't believe how it ends.' We now know differently. Not only did it end openended like the other ones, but there's a sixth one coming out soon. Up till now, they've done well with keeping the story continuous. Don't say it's ending, when you know you're making another one. That puts you in the same category as Halloween or Friday the 13th, where the villain keeps dying then is miraculously alive again in the sequel. Don't get me wrong, the Saw movies are nothing like those simple plot slasher films, they're much more indepth. I just thought that saying it's the end when it's not is misleading. Otherwise, this and the other Saw movies are a must own for any true horror collector. I highly recommend the entire set! Plus, always make sure you get the unrated director's cuts, you don't want to miss anything.
What's great about it: The game continues.
What's not so great: They say it's the end, but it's not.

A lot of people think the Saw films got worse as they went along, but that is SO far from the truth. The Saw films got more in-depth as they went along. This film explores the relationship beginnings of John and Hoffman...it is a great 'beginning' as shown in the flashbacks...they allude to Dr Gordon and Det Tapp from the first film and that is just a part of what's great with their "humble" beginnings. The last trap is arguably the hardest one to watch out of the entire series...it's built up so well, and looks to be the most painful. Bravo to Julie Benz and Tobin Bell for bringing this film to life!
What's great about it: Last trap. Origin of Hoffman.

I saw Saw 5 in the theater and I was really happy I went to see it. I've been a fan since the original came out and they are all really tremendous movies.
You know, it's not about the amount of gore or lack thereof, no; it's about a good storyline which I feel that the entire Saw line possesses.
Without revealing anything too in depth about the film (Don't want to ruin it for people who haven't seen it) I can tell you that this Saw does a good job of tying the first two Saws together. We are finding out more and more about Jigsaw and how the traps are done and what went into them.
Any Saw fan will love this movie and I for one cannot wait to add it to my DVD collection. If you didn't like Saw 1 or the fact that there is gore then you will not like this movie either. It isn't gore just for gore's sake ... it really contributes to the storyline and if you look deeper and realize why these people are in the traps and why Jigsaw does what he does then you will realize that there really is more to Saw then just blood and gore!
