Fragile cable

I like this premium ear buds and since I bought this in 2014 this is essential for trans-Pacific travels, which QC20 had made comfortable with great cancelling of white noise during the flights and long battery life. BUT, the cable connection to both sides of the unit is too fragile. I am keeping it working by putting tapes after starting to have this issue 1.5 yrs later, but this is really ugly for a piece costing a few hundred bucks. Also the rubber cover for the unit is also torn, which is ok without affecting function. But this cable issue is really annoying and make it a piece of junk if I put take not at a right angle. This must improved with a newer version and hopefully Bose offers replacing this poorly functioning unit with a new one.

Better to spend up for the QC35

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought these as well as the QC35 as sometimes I am really trying to travel as light/compact as possible and the QC35 case is a little large. These are good, but nowhere near as good as the QC35 for noise cancelling. I can hear a lot more of the plane engine noise with my QC20s. I'd recommend spending the extra and getting the QC35 unless you really don't want to full headphones. The extra cost and inconvenience to carry a larger product yield much better noise cancelling ability.
Also, for Apple device it's annoying that you have to carry the extra dongle to convert these to a lightning connection. And once you're using them you need another dongle to charge at the same time. This is a lot of dongles, wires and connections. All things considered wireless is best, and the QC35s are the best game in town.

Was good for the 1st year...

It has the best battery life I've ever experienced in terms of earbuds, bluetooth or not. But over time, I experienced a low buzz whenever I connected the earbuds to anything that wasn't a phone. It for certain wasn't the actual earbud, but I suspect it may just be a strange interaction with the stronger power source such as a laptop or desktop. The most interesting thing is, if I ground myself to whatever it's plugged into, the buzzing stops.
Sound quality is average, but a bit bass heavy. The earbuds are probably one of the most comfortable I've ever worn.
Another complaint I would have is probably the fact that the battery is real bulky. I guess there's not much to do about that, either have a short battery life or be bulky.

Not very durable

Rubber housing came apart within a year. Audio connector frayed as well. Picks up hum when charging (doesn't suppress electrical noise - decent audio cancellation, but this kills it). Ear tips are a bit shabby as well. Not worth the price considering how quickly it falls apart. Current unit is all taped up and sort of works.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It’s eerie how well the noise cancelling works. I had two people having a full-on heated conversation outside my office door - I could see them, but I could BARELY hear them at less than 10 feet away. Great product!!

Exceptional sound quality, but mic broke
on September 8, 2015

I purchased my BOSE QC 20 noise canceling ear-phones 2.5 years ago. They have an exceptional sound quality and per all accounts do absolutely cut out background noise to a very large extent, such as on an airplane. Even more so than the Bose noise canceling over-the-head headphones!
However, I went on a walk here in Texas the other day and must have sweated on the microphone...and now the microphone has completely stopped working. And I'm pretty sure the noise canceling does not work now as well. It does not seem to cut out background vacuum cleaner noise any more.
So I'd recommend this product as long as you will not be performing any sort of heated activity while wearing them. I'd love to get a new pair, but now that I know they just outlive the warranty by a factor of 2, I can't justify the expense personally.

great sound

I bought the QC20 for the noise cancelling & the volume control. My complaint is
that it works for " I phone, I touch" etc. only. I have a Surface 3.The sound is great,
but if someone wants to talk, you have to remove the ear bud. There must be others who
have both systems with the same problem. Otherwise, the earphones are great.

Fantastic Sound

I've used the QC20's for a little over a year. The sound is great with rich bass and the noise canceling works very well, even on noisy aircraft. The earbuds are comfortable and I've been able to wear them for the entire flight from New York to Hong Kong!
The only problem I have is recently one of the wires that comes from the control piece to the earbud has started shorting out. It causes a very loud pop in your ear when that starts to occur.
