We had a philips plasma before this TV and it blacked out on us so we decided to change directions and go with a LCD. After some research we found this TV to be the best value for the money. It not only has it surpassed our expectations, but it has a sharper, crisper picture. Couldnt be happier.
What's great about it: Picture is crisp and super easy to set up.

Bought this TV a month ago after a long time of comparison shopping. The price is about what I was looking to spend (give or take a hundred), and I was debating between the ln40a550 and the ln40b530. Went with this one primarily because of the weight diference and contrast ratio. The side by side comparison in store was a no brainer. The picture on this one just looked better. This TV looks AMAZING in HD. Standard def looks good, not great. Everyone writes that the speakers on this are bunk, but all you have to do is manually adjust the equalizer, and they sound just fine! One thing though, the description of this TV says it has side inputs, IT DOES NOT. Not that big a deal, you just need to swivel the TV to access the back if need be. Overall VERY GOOD TV at this price range.
What's great about it: HD picture quality is VERY good.
What's not so great: Limited connectors, NONE on side

This 40" is as good as a $2,000 120hz model, it has amazing quality and there are no artifacts or bluring, it would be nice to have 120hz but on a 40" you dont really need it.
I have a Xbox 360 and a Blu-Ray player hooked up to it and and it is really amazing looking. Way better than my old 32" 720p Vizio plasma that burned in after 5 minuets of use. LCD has really made advancements in there technology, there almost matched picture quality to plasmas.
great menu and plenty of imputs for PS3 or 360, sound system.
Great LCD HDTV, Deffinent buy, and for 900 bucks its a steal.
What's great about it: Picture quality, 1080p, Menu

I was hoping this was going to be a great TV for watching TV and also to use with my PS3 (HDMI). I notice much more input lag then I would like and there seems to be some slight ghosting which is annoying for a hardcore gamer like me.
'Game Mode' doesnt seem to really do much except make the screen a lot brighter. I still use it but set the power saving to Medium. Picture quality is pretty good, but I am not able to enjoy as much when there is some slight ghosting and input lag.
Watching TV looks pretty good with my Comcast HD box using component cables.
What's great about it: Picture quality, price isnt bad.
What's not so great: Burn in already?, input lag, ghosting.

I was down to this set and a sony that was on sale for $799.00 but was last years model and not in stock. I decided to go with this over the sony even tho it was $100 more due to better contrast ratio, compairable color and sharpness of the picture and Samsung's good rep. I got it home and set up, which was not that hard at all. picture on analoge cable is good, clear digital programs on comcast are awsome. I connected my old Apex DVD player with composite line in jacks and the picture was better than I expected. The sound is perry good but could be a little better with more bass to it,but if you connect a surrond sound system to it this is not an issue at all. The remote is nice and has big easy to read buttons but its not a universal like some other brands include. I have Sony remote that I set up to use for all my stuff so thats not a problem anymore.
over all I am very pleased with this set's picture and a price match to this weeks sale price of $799 has me loving it even more.
What's great about it: good picture great blacks for an LCD
What's not so great: No S-video input for older DVD players, remote is not multi brand universal

A great HDTV. I bought this last week, went home and plugged it into my XBOX 360 and it looks amazing with just component cables - - I play Halo 3 on it and it looks great. It definitely gives me the edge. This was my first HDTV purchase and I'm glad I did my research. The price, brand name, and quality often don't balance out at such a high level. I don't know why people would complain about the sound, I'm in a 10' by 20' room and it sounds great.
The display is crystal clear. I have a Samsung 22'' widescreen monitor for my computer that I just love, and this is basically that on steroids. The thing has very vibrant colors and the remotes pretty cool too. Felt like I was on the Enterprise the first time I used it.
I have noticed this model is advertised at 5ms, I believe it is 6ms - - Correct me if I'm wrong, but this same model is advertised elsewhere @ 6 ms. A good question for customer service before you buy! However, It's still great for games and a great purchase.
Make sure you have a good amount of space in your car if you're going to go pick this up, it wouldn't fit into my 03 Impala's trunk, and thats saying something. We ended up putting it in the backseat so if you have a wider car or pushdown seats you'll be fine. I highly recommend picking this up as its not worth the 100$ in this economy to have them deliver it.
The Best Buy guy unloaded it into my car for me and refused my 5$ tip (I guess they get commission). Good service!
But if it breaks in a year I'll be back spitting fire.
What's great about it: Easy to set up, great picture, decent sound, good brank, and a fantastic price
