The product is very good but the WinTV 7 software on the CD in the box is old and buggie. The auto update does not function out of the box. So go to the Hauppauge website and get WinTV Version 7.0.28292 or higher. The product is very good with the right software.
What's great about it: Clean Picture for the price and being USB
What's not so great: MUST UPDATE FROM WEBSITE MANUALLY

Use this to record on my PC. It was soo easy to install. I didn't install the software that came with the device. I let Windows 7 recognize the device and use Windows Media. Works great!
What's great about it: Price & easy to install
What's not so great: Haven't found anything yet, so far.

Set-up and use were very simple and straightforward from my perspective. I am somewhat technically savvy so I may have an advantage in that over standard consumers. The reception is as good as my regular tv and the picture is sharp. I usually watch it through my Windows Media Player and have had no problems (using Windows 7).
What's great about it: *Ease of set-up / installation *Ease of use *Great picture
What's not so great: *The remote should use the newer technology so it doesn't have to have a direct line-of-sight for it to work.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I don't use the bundled software that came with it, so I've had, for the most part, an acceptable experience with it. Interms of tuning, it works great with the analog system I'm currently hooked into. The software I use with it, recognizes it flawlessly and makes use of all of the devices features. However, like a lot of other customers, I've had nothing but problems with the remote.
If I had to do it all over again, I would have opted for the PCI card, instead of the USB device, simply because the card is so much faster (have 3 of those in another machine), and the remote is more like a conventional remote control.
In my opinion, this is a great little toy to get your feet wet in, but if you're going to get serious about designing and building your own pvr/dvr, use a more robust product.
What's great about it: easy install very compact, portable

I got this for the Sole purpose of moving out of the VCR age where you need a converter box to use a vcr to record, got it home, installed it, easy to use and set up a set time for recording! Recorded the desired show at what I can tell the time I set it for, was out at the time. Not bad file size, about 7.5 gigs for a little more than an hour recording.
What's great about it: Easy to use!
What's not so great: Remote was a pain in the rear to get to work, but it works now!

The Hauppauge TV HD Stick USB 2.0 TV Tuner with PVR is very easy to assemble. I had some initial issues with the configuration through Windows Media Center, but on a second attempt I was able to get the device working correctly. The box comes with the TV Tuner, a credit card size remote control and a mini antenna that can be used in case an end user does not have digital cable. I configured the device for use with a digital cable connection. It is not necessary to have a desktop cable box. I plugged in the cable connection straight from the wall jack and after configuration was able to pick up 70 channels. The first time I connected the cable to the TV Tuner but apparently it wasn't tight enough (even though it was pretty tight!) and only picked up 13 channels. After unscrewing and re-screwing the cable connection the second time around I picked up 70 channels.
What's great about it: Easy to set up and I am able to pick up 70 channels.
What's not so great: You have to make sure that the cable is connected securely and entirely to the back of the TV Tuner.

Is a good way to watch some tv when you are working on the computer. Although is not exactly the best idea to make it your main tv set. It needs much more to run than it says in the box, my cpu is faster than the min required and this software runs to slow. Some where in the manual they recommend to download and install the latest version of the software from their website, and that is really a good idea cause the one in the cd doesnt works properly.
What's great about it: Easy to install
What's not so great: It requiers more than a cetrino duo @ 2.4ghz to run properly
