I bought this to replace an internal TV tuner card that repeatedly froze and locked up my PC. Since switching to this USB Tuner card it has performed flawlessly. Installation is simple, picture is great, works with my Windows 7 windows media center.

This device worked well for me. The software it came with was pretty straightforward. You do have to run a scan on the first setup. It comes with an antenna but it wasn't strong enough in my case. I had to purchase a separate indoor antenna. Once I had both setup, everything worked really well. I was getting 720p. This would probably work best if you use it with another program like Windows Media Center (if you have windows 7) or Media Portal. Definitely a great tool for cord cutters

Just purchased this USB tuner from Best Buy and it was really worth the money. Unfortunately I had to learn the hard way that you get what you pay for when I purchased a much cheaper Kworld tuner last year that broke 5 months after purchase and was always buggy. The experience with this tuner however is soooo much better. It installed quickly and easily and the picture is amazing when receiving full 1080i broadcasts.
What's great about it: Simple install, great picture
What's not so great: A little bit on the pricey side.

Pro: - very easy to install - when it is working it is great con: - resets itself - crashes - does not start - requires reboots to come up properly - stops working when I zap throu channels after the 3. or 4. channel I have it now for 3 or 4 month and I am getting ready to trash it.

After reading some of the reviews I was somewhat prepared to bring this back to the store in case it did not work on my system. There was no need. It works better than I expected on my Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit system. I am using Media Center instead of the software that came with it, but the software worked well on a different computer. Although I have never been a fan of Windows Media Center, I really like the support it provides for the card. Most importantly, the picture looks great on my 1680x1080 monitor, especially HD channels. My computer is a Core Duo 2.66 GHz with 3GB RAM, my video card is a standard Dell 256MB integrated, and there is no chop or delay at all.

I couldn't get a straight answer from anyone about what this device could actually do. I had to buy it to find out. Not sure why it seems as though nobody has ever used a TV tuner before (including the cable guy installing the box who said "man, you can do that?"), but I purchased anyway. It works well. I plugged it directly into the output feed coming from my digital cable box, then into my PC via the provided USB cable. I imagine the faster your processor the better the output on the screen, but my picture is great and smooth. I had to install it via the component cables instead of the coax (not included) and change the channel with the supplied remote, but works 100%. Also, it's good to know that I can hook up any external device that has component cable ports - PS3, XBox, Video Camera, Etc. I can even record or take pics of the feed from the software provided. I totally recommend!

I was looking for an inexpensive way to watch and record TV and I thought I'd give this a try. It's pretty amazing. We get some 30 channels over the air with a set of amplified rabbit ears. 9 of them are in HD. We also get clear QAM and analog cable signals, but it will only do one or the other at a time and when you switch you have to rescan.
There was some difficulty in finding the clear QAM channels in Windows Media Center. They are apparently assigned virtual channel numbers by the cable company. The WinTV software that came with this product did find the these QAM channels, and it will show you their real channel number if you right click on the channel in the lineup. Then you can manually add the real channel number to Windows Media Center.
Windows 7 64 also appears to have a problem with the analog signals when connected to a flat panel via HDMI and Windows Media Center is set to 1080p. This is resolved by switching back to 720p for analog channel surfing. It does fine on 1080p when using the antenna or on clear QAM.
Sadly the remote never worked at all, so I got a wireless keyboard.

I had been looking for a small TV for my kitchen to watch TV while I'm preparing meals and googled information about converting laptops into a TV and found information on this device. I love it. No need for an additional TV.
My Best Buy number: 2170683502
What's great about it: Allows my laptop to display local TV channels
