I bought this product on sale at Best Buy and I am thrilled. Never owned a GPS before so I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I was able to get it up and running. The only negative with setup is that It took at least 30 minutes for the unit to get an initial satellite connection. Fortunately, that is a one time thing. I've been using this unit during the holidays and it has helped me to track down several locations of a retailer so that I could track down a sold out item. This GPS also directs you to the closest food or gas station. Great for when you are in an unfamiliar area. It also redirected me to an alternate route when I ran into traffic. So far the directions have been accurate - no more getting lost. The only big negative is the dashboard disc. It is supposed to allow you to mount the unit the dashboard. Well mine just comes right off of my Honda Civic. So really the only mount that works for me is the windshiedl mount
What's great about it: easy to use, spoken street commands, provides tele# and address for retailers

I shopped around for the perfect device for the money. I didn't need bluetooth, lane assist, or a large screen. That left me with this model or a Tom Tom. After talking to friends and co-workers, all recommended Garmin. They were spot on! This device is great! It is simple to use and does the trick. I took the family on a LONG trip from Chicago to New Mexico. Over the trip, we missed 2 exits on the highway. The Garmin routed us back on quickly. This alone made the purchase worth it! I wouldn't waste money on a larger screen device. Anything larger than this would obstruct your view out the window.
What's great about it: It is simple to use and accurate. I could not travel anywhere without it!
What's not so great: The ads are useless. I'm not sure how the traffic details are actually determined.

I've used this around South Florida from West Palm Beach to Miami, it alerted me that traffic was ahead on I-95, I made a few wrong turns and it re-directed me to where I had to go. I am very happy with this product overall. All of my friends said Garmin is the way to go!
What's great about it: Set up right out of the box, very clear voice instructions, extremely accurate!
What's not so great: I've had if for three weeks now and I can't find a single fault!

I bought this to replace my (stolen) 1.5 year old gps (not Garmin). I found out that Garmin (or atleast this 255WT model) didn't have (minor) features that my old gps has. Features like "least use of freeways" and be able to input new location/address while moving (passenger should be able to do it) without going to "safe mode(?)". It kept on freezing (when it recalculates)! That was it for me, after 2.5 days in my car, I returned it and went with the old brand.
What's great about it: Speaks loud and clear (street names and turns). Traffic updates

Faster processing nice wide screen. The user interface is much more difficult to use than TomTom. It is difficult to exclude a particular highway or route. If you use the traffic feature there are advertisements. Garmin's map updates are cheaper than TomTom. Map updates are roughly $119 for life on the Garmin whereas the TomTom is $40 a year plus the cost of all the maps you missed to the current year. So my old TomTom one is $40 the year then $40 additional for the year I didn't subscribe to the $40 a year map update service for a total of $80.
What's great about it: Faster than my old Tom Tom One. Map updates cheaper than TomTom
What's not so great: Difficult to exclude a road or particular highway. Advertisements

This is my first GPS and I love this one the traffic update are great it has been right on 99.9% of the time. The only problem was when I up dated the maps free it showed my home location on the wrong side of the street. This was the same problem I saw on an other brand it must be something in the maps. I would tell anyone to buy. Got it for a Christmas gift for myself in store for only 129.99.
What's great about it: Easy to use setting home was so easy

I purchased the 1250T and it would not work, so after reading the reviews on the 255WT I returned the 1250T and bought the 255WT. Very happy with the 255WT. Works Great!
Stay away from the new Garmins - Software problems.
