The new Garmin has some added features my Magellan didn't have that are nice. It is far more accurate then the Magellan was however. Perhaps the Magellan was just getting old and the maps were out of date. I miss how the Magellan gave me a chime when I arrived where I was supposed to make my turns. That is very nice to alert you in areas where the streets aren't marked well.
What's great about it: It is very accurate.
What's not so great: I miss some features that my old Magellan had as standard.

We are late to the party for GPS but we liked using one when on vacation in CA. So, when I saw the 255WT on sale for $129.99, I went for it. For areas that we know it is not helpful. There are often better routes. Also, it thinks our house is on the right side of the street when it is on the left and it tries to take me to a dead end service road when approaching my house from a specific direction I hope it will do better when we are traveling in areas we do not know. We will use it with caution.
It is easy to use and the voice directions are easy to follow. The 4.3" screen is only for use when you are stuck in traffic or pulled over.
So, it is OK but not the best thing since sliced bread!
What's great about it: I got a great buy on Black Friday but even the regular sale price is a good deal
What's not so great: Like, I said, it is directionally challenged on occaision.

I love it, it is pretty easy to use. I am not a tech person and I figured it out. The screen is big and easy to read. I like that is has my speed and it sometimes has the speed limit. I think it has a traffic thing, but I live out in the middle of a wheat feild and have not been to the west side yet. Spokane is the only big city that I have been to since I received it, and they don't really have traffic. Next time I go over the mountains, I will have to check it out.
What's great about it: It is exactly what I wanted. The reviews were great, they helped me get the one that I wanted.
What's not so great: The speed limit is not always correct, and it does not always have the store I want.

I've had it only a couple of months but it works as advertised. Clearly helps navigate the Portland metro area, which is complex and hilly. The 255WT handles the local quirks in street layout without a hitch. Our GPS needs are simple, so the 255WT is adequate. We don't hike Mt. Hood or sail the Columbia River bar, so we're not really challenging it. Fast shipping from BestBuy.
What's great about it: It works, super EZ setup, accurate.

This is my third Garmin device, two others were made as a gift to my friends, then I bought Magellan, boy was I wrong - I had to keep on button for 10 secs to turn on/off device and it was taking a while to lock satellites. This one is a way faster - easy turn on/off button - fast load, fast satellite lock but shows total time - it is useless to me, others also agree.
What's great about it: Everything but - look at cons
What's not so great: Still shows total time unlike others total mileage :(

I've used this 4-5 times now and each time it has been incorrect. It tells me I'm across the street when I'm in my driveway, it tells me to turn right on my mom's street when her house is to the left, and it continually tells me it's redirecting the route even though I'm following the directions exactly. I bought this so I wouldn't get lost as easily, but it seems to only be testing me to see if I know the right way! I would have returned it, but my husband didn't want to pay the restocking fee and told me to keep it. Oh well--at least I know if bombs aimed at me are landing by its directions, I'll be safe!
What's great about it: Very easy to turn on, set-up

Overall I highly recommend this device, it has a bright screen and a clear voice (my kids call her Sophia). I have seen other GPS models that are much more complicated to use. When you turn it on it offers several icons. The three I use most frequently are the Address, Points of Interest, and Home features.
I really like these choices. When I'm running low on gas and don't know where a gas station is, it quickly finds the closest one and guides me there. When I know an address I can easily enter it in.
Another very useful function is the "Home" icon. Once you enter your home address the first time, it remembers it. Then if you're ever trying to navigate your way back home, you simply hit the Home icon and it will guide you there without more input.
On rare occasion it has been hard to discern which way to go. Generally this happens where there is a fork in the road and the roads diverge gradually (like an express lane running parallel to a highway). It doesn't happen often. I'm guessing this has less to do with the unit and more to do with the ability of the satellites to accurately survey the landscape.
What's great about it: Easy to set up, easy to use.
What's not so great: Sometimes it is not exactly clear which direction its leading me.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas and she just loves it. It is very accurate, fast, great at rerouting, the turn by turn voice prompts is great, easy to use and stick to the window.
The only bad thing is, my wife can watch my speed easier. Since the GPS has the speed limit and my speed posted on it. Just kidding, it’s not a bad thing at all. It really is nice to have a speed limit posted on it for some of the roads that have no speed limit posted.
This GPS is great and I highly recommend it to anyone.
