The good: - Although it feels kind of cheap / plasticky, I think that actually makes it more durable, particularly for the screen. I throw it in my bag fairly often and it's fine - It's pretty intuitive when looking for locations - Lots of ways to view your route
The bad: - The system hangs more often than I'd like - It takes it a while to get a satellite read at random times, even in wide open spaces - The menus can be a bit tedious, even if they are simple and straight-forward
The summary: I've never had a GPS before, so I really don't have any baseline to compare it to. But from what little I know, it seems to be a pretty average GPS system. I got it at a good price because of a Black Friday sale, but don't know if I would pay full retail for it.
What's great about it: Simple touch-screen interface
What's not so great: The system hangs fairly often

I bought this one thinking it would be great to map out where not to go with all the traffic in the NY area but I was wrong. It tells me there is traffic when there is no traffic and that there is no traffic when there is a huge traffic jam. I'd opt for the cheaper one w/o traffic patterns.
What's great about it: simple
What's not so great: traffic patterns not accurate

This is a nice model Garmin. It is accurate even on small country roads. The pedestrial and bicycle features are nice, too. Only thing I would have added would have been an AC adaptor. Some people, such as myself, do not have a working cigarette lighter. Adaptor should be included, not optional.
What's great about it: Everything!
What's not so great: Should have included AC adaptor

I have been using the product now for about 1 month. I haven't had to use it too often in places where I haven't been, it has mostly been used for testing and to see if it comes up with better directions than I was familiar with. It speaks every road that you are supposed to turn onto. It gives enough notification ahead of time when you have to make a turn. The traffic feature seems like it would come in very handy but often nothing shows up on the screen, I may just not be in a traffic provided area or there just may not be any traffic at that time, not too sure. The one thing I am not thrilled about is that it can take a long time for it to acquire a satellite after turning the device on. If you have to start driving while it's acquiring a satellite it may not come in very handy if you're going to be in an area that you're unfamiliar with. If you have the time to spare you might be better off waiting until the satellite is picked up before starting to drive. Overall I am very satisfied with this product and I did a ton of research, and from what I have read this seems to be just about the best NAV system out there that doesn't need the Lane Assist feature or bluetooth.
What's great about it: Easy to setup, turn by turn directions, recalculating
What's not so great: Sometimes takes a very long time to acquire satellite

The incredible Black Friday price for the 255WT convinced me to buy my first GPS unit. I was very impressed with the bright high resolution screen. The unit recalculates quickly when I make a short deviation from the planned route. It quickly acquires the satellites and its display of the car's location is spot on. Volume was fine at 70% even with the radio on. I was disappointed that the users manual didn't come with it. I know its available online but that is not going to help me in the car. I recommend reading the manual since some of the functionality is not obvious. On the negative side, the unit could not find my son's house even though the subdivision is 10 years old. Google maps could not find it either but Mapquest could. I was able to input it using Lat/Lon. The route it generated for a new store took me past the correct intersection by a quarter mile. Google maps had the correct turn. The user's manual lacked instructions for modifying the generated route. By using Via points I was able to modify the route. The Garmin web site is not intuitive but after some frustration I was able to download a free map update.
What's great about it: Black Friday price was great, screen brightness and resolution is good.
What's not so great: Can't find some destinations, no manual

I purchased this GPS system after I rode with my friend who had purchased one. It was incredible. I no longer have to rely on google maps to go to places that I am unfamilar with. I coach a grade school baskerball team and to find the places we play is now a breeze. I recommend this to anyone who has not committed every road map that was ever printed to memory.
What's great about it: It provides me the ability to find my way to anywhere I need to go without hassle or inconvienience
