After comparing some others, we bought 3 Garmin 255s because they quite simply do the job their were designed to do: plan your trip. Satellite acquisition is very fast and consistent. Trip calculation is fast and reliable. Directions are clear and understandable. Personally, I'm not in love with the way they've arranged their menus, but a lot of people would disagree with me.
What's great about it: fast satellite acquisition
What's not so great: not in love with the user interface
I would recommend this to a friend!

I BOUGHT THE GARMIN FOR MY HUSBAND FOR CHRISTMAS, BUT HE ALSO RECEIVED A SMALLER ONE FROM HIS DAUGHTER. I KEPT THE ONE I BOUGHT AND PUT IT IN MY CAR. LOVE IT ! USED IT THE OTHER DAY WHEN I WHEN OUT OF TOWN AND DIDN'T GET LOST ONCE. THE SPEAKING IS VERY SHARP AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND. IT GIVES ME CONFIDENCE WHEN I AM NOT SURE WHERE I AM GOING OR HOW TO GET THERE.
What's great about it: EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND IT HELPS OUT WHEN I AM LOST.
What's not so great: HAVEN'T FOUND ANY CONS AS OF YET

Purchased this unit at a great price on BestBuy.com and have already put it to use many times. The operator speech is clear and very helpful that it says the street name so that you do not have to look at the screen on every turn. No it does not have bluetooth like some other GPS units, but I don't see why I would need it!
This GPS takes me to point A to point B, will find restaurants and locations as if I were on mapquest, and is extremely easy to use. No need to spend $200+ on other GPS units.
What's great about it: Great Price & User Friendly
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy to Use - Slow to update

This is my first GPS, but I found the Nuvi to be easy to use and fun to customize. The sreen is clear and bright and the voices are clear. My only complaint is that the traffic reports are not available until you are on the road in question.
What's great about it: The Nuvi is easy to set up and can be used straight from the box.
What's not so great: Be prepared for a 2-hour download to update the maps.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The price on this is much better than all the high prices on the other gps. Compare features with prices please. Make the best choice Garmin 255WT

Have had a 3.5" screen Garmin for years and wanted upgrade without spending $300 for a lot of Bells and Whistles. This one has 4.3" screen, traffic updates, full maps and POI's. Don't want bluetooth or cell phone connectivity.
Next year I'll just buy the lifetime map updates and unit will be good for years.
What's great about it: Large screen, free traffic updates without Bluetooth hassle.
I would recommend this to a friend!

this model is a vast improvement over the one that i purchased 3 years ago. It has more features, a bigger screen, and the best part of all is the lifetime traffic alerts.
What's great about it: user friendly,reliable,great price
