I live about 30 minutes away from where i work and that is without traffic. the traffic feature is great cause if it bad, the garmin will reroute you around the traffic.
What's great about it: the rerouting feature during heavy traffic. I thought i was going to be late for a meeting and it rerouted me.
What's not so great: did have an issue with a freeway it did not recognize.

I had a great experience with Garmin Nuvi 260W until it died. The Nuvi255WT was the next upgrade. Unfortunately, it will freeze on you half the time when 1) You plug or unplug it when it's already on 2) Make it recalculate more than 3 times
The freezing is very inconvenient, especially if you're trying to be a safe driver and not operate the GPS while driving. I have returned the same model twice, thinking it was just an outlying glitch. Unfortunately, they all had the same problem.
What's great about it: Easy to use, good touch screen, traffic feature
What's not so great: This version will freeze every other time you make it recalculate.

I don't use a lot of the features, but for navigating and allowing me to take a "short cut" not recommended but still routing me to my destination, the Garmin is great. I haven't been confident of the "traffic routing" system working, but the search for a destination works fairly well, it re-routes quickly and is nice and small (making transport easy). I can also plug my Blackberry charger or computer synch cable into the device to recharge it (and didn't have to buy an extra wall outlet chord - that was very nice!)
This is my first device I ever owned after using one in Ireland last April. I haven't really seen that the traffic avoidance works, but overall it seems like a great product. I have only owned it a month, so I cannot speak to its long-term reliability. Seems like a safe purchase worth the money to me.
What's great about it: Set up / quick start was clear. Suits my purposes (driving to new destinations all the time)
What's not so great: Often reverts to a Chicago location when first turned on even though I live in the DC area. Short battery life.

Was very apprehensvie at first. Reviews were very encouraging. Going on vacation to Nasville in June and wanted something to help me while there. I am not very tech savvy and was very nervous. I wanted to give myself plenty of time to learn how to use it and ordered early. Boy was I suprised in how easy it has been to use. Would highly reccommend.
What's great about it: Easy to use and understand(even for those who are not very tech savvy)

We used this GPS for the first time on a trip this week. We have had two previous Streetpilot GPS and we liked them. However, the nuvi is incredible. It's small and the traffic info and other icons really help. Today it alerted us of construction and told us how to get around it. Really cool! So much better than our previous streetpilots.
What's great about it: everything. I do wish you would send a manual with it. I'll download it
What's not so great: Wish the nuvi could be plugged into a AC outlet and the computer at the same time.

I absolutely love my GPS! I used to live in San Diego but then moved overseas for 10 years. So much has changed, but so much is still familiar. I use my GPS almost daily to help me find those places that continue to remain on the tips of my memory. It is especially handy in finding the fastest way from point A to point B when currently located in an unfamiliar part of town.
When looking up something in the GPS's database, I suggest always using the spell feature when you can. it makes the search MUCH faster. I also like to look places up on Google and then download the information to my GPS. This is much faster than letting the GPS look for it. An added bonus is being able to see the surounding area in Google's map when there might be a choice of multiple locations.
An added bonus of this GPS is that it can BlueTooth connect to my cell phone and thus provide hands free answering. Making a call via the GPS is possible but is hardly hands free. It is much easier to place the call via the phone but then talk via speaker phone via the GPS.
I've actually had this same GPS model for over a year and just bought this one for my son. I'm definately hooked!
What's great about it: It's a great copilot when driving alone!
What's not so great: There have been a few times when it seems to have gotten confused

I love this GPS unit. I got it on sale with a case and friction mount, so I'm happy. I did an update on it and it's ready to use! Very accurate, lightweight, and has pretty good battery life. Warns of traffic conditions ahead on road, allowing you to take an early detour, and automatically recalculates your route for you. The only thing that I have a gripe about is no bluetooth, but I have a headset for that!
