The windshield on my new Bolt was so slanted that the gps would not get vertical enough for me to see it, and the built in camera was pointed at the sky. This base sits on the top of the dash and does not slide around. I was able to adjust the camera, and to see the gps properly.

Once you use a friction mount you will never use a suction device again. Set it where you want it and it stays. To remove it for storage just pick it up move it to a secure place.
