Have the bean bag version and like that alot more, this one was on sale so I tried it, bad choice to save a buck.
What's great about it: It's not expensive
What's not so great: Don't like the way it fits to the dash

Within 24 hrs we knew we did not like it at all. I should have taken it back. I went online to a Garmin Outlet and purchased one with the sandy in the base and like the other one I have, it is great.

Thanks for your review! It's important to ensure that the dashboard is clean and dry where the Garmin Portable Friction Mount is placed, as dust and dirt buildup can cause the mount to slide. Should this happen, I would suggest wiping the dashboard clean with a cloth dampened with water. There are other factors that should be considered, including location of the mount, angle/texture of the dashboard, and so on. Thank you again for your input! (KS) Garmin

The large flat bottom is not flexible enough to grip sloped or uneven surfaces in the car. It tends to fall off the dashboard or other surfaces when taking a turn or topples over when driving on bumpy surfaces.
The mount is easy to hold in hour hand when driving. So it is easy to look at the GPS while watching the road.
