This mount is very stable on the road, but make sure that your dash has enough flat space to keep the GPS from moving, and that it doesn't raise the unit so far as to block your vision. My main use for this mount, however, is on my desk, where I can charge my units and/or connect them to my PCs.
The mount is not high enough to operate a large GPS vertically in 'portrait' mode.
