Though this seems to work in situations where there are no reliable mounting surfaces (and suction cups don't last very long and have to be replaced frequently) it is unstable wobbling back-and-forth while driving. I would certainly prefer a hard amount that is accessible but, when your vehicle doesn't allow for that, it's a good option.

It's a stable platform for the larger GPS units but the mounting arm isn't long enough to provide enough clearance between the base and the bottom of a large GPS making it difficult to adjust the screen angle. I have used one of these for years on a smaller unit in my work truck and it has held up very well.

It grips and no slips! It seems that invariably the suction cup mounts fall from the windshield at the most inopportune times. This friction mount works as advertised and driving in South Florida is a grueling test of its quality. No slips here and no GPS dropping from your windshield into your lap while driving. Nice!

This Garmin Mount does what it says it will. I thought it would slide around and be useless. I was wrong. It stays in place in a Chevy Silverado, a Roush Mustang and a 911. The Sport Chrono gauge keeps it in place. Of course if you go hard into corners it will move, but if you are driving that way, navigation would not be high on your list. Buy it on sale and it is worth triple what you will pay.
