It seems the bags have been changed

I have used FoodSaver for decades now and over the last couple of years had more and more trouble with my machine not being able to vacuum. They seal just fine but the vacuum has not worked well or at all in the last 3 machines I've had. I now have 2 machines which do not work. By chance, I grabbed an older bag I had been reusing for something unrelated and realized that the bag has a texture on one side, whereas the newer bags are smooth on both sides, textured on one interior side. So for giggles, I turned my bag inside out and put my spoon in it and voila, it vacuumed every single time I tried it. Put my items back into an inside out bag and once again it vacuumed 1st time, but it did not seal. After trying several times I did manage to get a decent seal on a non-food item. This leads me to believe that my 2 non-working machines are just fine, it's the newer style of bags being sold that are the culprit. I still have a freezer full of non-vacuumed bags of food that are getting freezer burnt since I can't vacuum them. I will be looking to other manufacturers for a better product of freezer bags. I had bought some at a discount store a couple yrs back and they were much superior to FoodSavers. I will try to find those again now so I can once again use my machines.

New style/material is a FAIL

The older style bags were had an embossed surface on the inside AND outside of one surface of the roll. The latest batch I purchase are embossed on the inside only. I had used the old style rolls regularly for sous-vide cooking with only a couple of minor leaks (zero failures if I double seal). The new style rolls have failed EVERY TIME, even when double sealed. Worse, they are often failing in an epic way, such as the entire 11" double seal will open. Cook temps have been under 160 F., whereas the old style held up to extended 185 F. immersions. So, if you sous-vide, the new style bags will not work. I will be returning remaining supply and looking for an alternate supplier.

Didn't meet expectations, air seeps in through sides, so you need to seal all sides before using. Not worth buying, can get better ones on eBay.

The material has too many wrinkles. It is very hard to use as the wrinkles allow air into the bag. I had to streach the material and after several attempts to get the bags sealed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Prior to purchase, I thought the idea had some merit. However, I store my wine bottles on their SIDES in a temperature controlled wine cooler and according to the (after purchase) info, that should not be done. That information should be provided in your ad.
