I always did love this movie. It's never looked better. The Steel Book artwork on the front and back make it worth it all its own. The film in 4K will naturally show off the graininess of the 35mm filmstock but the movie really pops in that format. The sound is also quite good, or it just might be because the late James Horner's soundtrack is so haunting a piece.

Is there anyone who has not seen this movie? If so, you are missing a magical piece of film making that is SO MUCH MORE than baseball or farming. Many people will recall the quote, "If you build it, he will come." However, the more pertinent quote might be, "Ease his pain." This is a quintessential all-American fantasy, not terribly different from Forrest Gump or The Wizard of Oz, with a tear-worthy surprise ending. The 4K upgrade is definitely worth it. Great cinematography and music!

One of the best sports movies of all time. The scene where Kevin Costner’s character plays catch with his Father has made me tear up many times. My Father and I saw this film in the theater. My Father and I played catch July 4th, 1990. He passed away August 28, 1990. Neither of us ever forgot the Father and Son playing catch scene from “Field of Dreams”. This was tough because I LOVE the movie! But I ordered it for the digital copy and when it came it was just a dvd. I called and I sent that one along with four others I had ordered (none had digital) back thinking they were sending me the correct movies with a digital code. Unfortunately I ended up sending those back as well and giving up.

Dreaming about baseball...

Good film, emotional and fun, telling the story of an Iowa farmer, and his field which he builds to bring the memories of legendary baseball players back to life. Costner fine in title role. Burt Lancaster appears late and is quite memorable. Some of the script is a bit pedestrian and silly, but the concluding scenes, add whimsy and emotion and that payoff works. That more of my reason for giving it a recommendation. Baseball fans will love it, but I think it'll have a mass appeal to many.
