Great Printer

The Artisan 50 does a great job with all sizes of photo paper. It is used mainly for printing photo-art greeting cards. Excellent results and true to color, texture and overall image quality up to the full size prints of the printers capability.
The ONLY complaints is the high cost of inks and that Epson does not warn its customers about the End of Life of this printer after an undetermined number of prints are made and /or the ink pads become over saturated with spent ink.

Great Color Printer

We are a photographers and are printing 8x10 glossies for various projects. The color saturation is fabulous. The prints are better than the lab we use. We also print images to show clients for much larger photographs. We could not be more pleased with this printer.

I love this printer! It is typical of Epson: a quality product. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that the unit is an ink-gussler and the replacements are costly. Over-looking the "cost of operation" (which is hard to do!), this printer is a winner!

Printer Pros and Cons
on August 1, 2013

The quality of print is wonderful, but it's ease of operation is not so good. To explain: The CD tray has to be reset over and over before the printer will work. The documentation that comes with the printer is very vague and tech support isn't much better. Since I've owned it, I have learned all the quirks about it, but it still shouldn't be that hard to operate. I have 3 HP printers that all work like a dream...no problems what so ever.

Bought this printer to replace a broken one just like it,that I got used at a garage sale. Loved the print quality of the original one,no telling how much it had been used. When it finally died (printhead went bad),I Knew I wanted another one not just for photos but for printing on CD"s.The print quality is perfect and the cd labels you can make rival commercial CD"s.Have an officejet for normal print and copy tasks but this printer prints noticeably better Photos,Exellent!

This printer does a good job. I particularly like that the printed colors usually are very close to the colors I see on my monitor in Photoshop.

Artisan 50

This printer does a beautiful job on color prints and handles CDs or DVDs reasonably. The DVD capability is the reason I bought it and it delivers.
It will require restarting when errors happen and is expensive to maintain the ink supply. If you want low cost and high volume this is not your printer of choice.

All purpose printer

The Epson Artisan 50 does it all and does it well. So far it also seems easy on the ink.
For my own uses however, it is 1 of only a few inkjet printers (all Epson) which can close the paper guides down to 2 inches and feed the cards I print (2x3 1/2 inches).
I also print a lot of 110lb card stock. this printer has the fairly straight throught paper track that allows the heavy paper to print without problems.
All in all, this is one of the best Epsons to date.
