A great gift

My kids gave it to me for my birthday. I only use it for photos and to print CD's. The colors are great and the quality of the prints are excellent. I only use Epson paper and inks, and the combination is a winning one. I highly recommend it.

Good for the money

I have had many printers (most Epson) and have had the usual jaming, etc. With the Artisan 50 I installed the printer and ran off 8000 copies on a very thin paper with not hitch. Everything worked perfectly and better than I honestly expected. I am now thinking about a second one.

Artisan 50

I bought this printer because I had the R260 and wore it out printing labels on my disks. This is very easy to use and because it is the next generation printer, the software is updated and it has never failed me. You can print anything and have the option to select quality of the print out. By selecting quality you can print at a lower setting and save ink on all jobs. If you want a disk label printer this is the one to have.

A friend urged me to purchase the Artisan 50, and now I wish I'd have purchased it sooner! Printing out 4x6 photos is so easy, and the photos are of amazing quality. My main reason for the purchase was to make ink jet labels on DVDs. I'm using white, water-proof disks, and am blown away by the finished label. So professional looking! Am still in the process of experimenting with the possibilities. I really liked that the box contained everything needed to start printing right away - aside from the USB cord - and that the shipment was delivered timely with online tracking available.

print well but very noisy....like it needs oiling to keep the squeeking down/eliminated....it cannot be used to directly place your SD or compact flash card into it... my biggest disappointment in it and the advise given by the Epson rep I talked to.. but colors etc good...

Nice Disc Printer

This was bought so I could make more professional looking DVDs and CDs well that it does. I've only printed about 20 so far on it (5 silver printable CDs 15 white printable DVDs) and the quality of the print is excellent, I've used less than 1/8 of the ink (or so it says) Let them dry for 24 hours. Next time I would try the waterproof or water resistant discs as if the regular printable ones get wet and you rub them while they are wet the ink will smear( not that that is something I plan on doing).

I have used Epson R260, 280, and 380's for over 4 years. This is my first Artisan 50. When I installed it made a lot of grinding noises when starting up.
When I go to use the PRINT CD function, a page of paper wants to run through the printer although CD tray is in position. Then after 4-5 attempts, tray finally goes all the way in (without error of CD Tray not set correctly) and may print on CD.
Not too impressed with this new model.

problems at the start

I answered NO to recommending to a friend because there was no choice to chose "maybe"
The printer looks nice and prints well, I think. (I just unwrapped it and the first prints were fine.)
But the printer came with two installable trays. One is for printing on a CD or DVD. I don't know what the other is for and there is no explanation. Illustration for placing the DVD tray in place is unclear, and talking to a tech representative was about as clear as the illustration.
Maybe when I get to understand this, I will feel a bit better about the printer.
