This is my second Artizan 50 in the space of one year, was there something wrong with the first one? NO this printer uses very little ink and as I do a lot of dvd /cd covers and disc prints rather than keep changing top tray to bottom tray I just use each printer for each task. You will not believe just how little ink is used for the discs. and how silent the machine is.

Clogged Ink Tanks
on March 23, 2014

I have had two of these printers now. It's not a matter of if but when will the ink tanks become clogged. Because of the built in printhead (which makes fantastic beautiful highly detailed printing available), if the printer is not used consistently, the ink tanks will become clogged and the printer will not be able to be used. On my first printer, the ink tanks become clogged after a month business trip where the printer was not in use. The second printer became clogged for not apparent reason. Epsoin support will replace the printer, but the hassle is not worth the purchase. The actual quality of the printer and the prints are fantastic.

I bought my first Artisan 50 Epson printer almost five years ago. It gave me consistently photos the entire time. When it was worn out, I replaced it with an identical machine. I am impressed that Epson continues to produce this reliable printer for that long a time. I expect this new machine to perform as well as the one it replaces.

Botton line - I just bought this printer and get less than 8 8X10 prints and the light cyan cartridge needs replacing. Epson answer - bigger cartridge - double the price. I,ve always owned epson printers and will continue to do so. Have 3 epsons up and running now. The quality, speed, and ease of set up is great with this printer. So, was the price. I would give it 5* if it wasn,t for the ink consumption. Excellent printer if you don,t plan on printing a lot.

Quality photos but a small problem

This replaced an Epson printer that was fabulous for 6 yrs. This one does great photos, but when I decide to print another copy right after, it's very dark and unusable. If I turn off the printer and wait a few minutes, I can then get another good print. I'm hoping it has to do with an ink cartridge rather that a flaw in the printer.

I have been a very long time user of Epson printers. In fact they are the ONLY printers I will ever use. In the past I have used, extensively, the R320 & R340 printers, which in my opinion are just as good or even slightly better. This printer does not have standalone printing and no wireless capability. (Which I Don't Need Anyway) It is very hard for me to give this printer a 4 star rating. I really wanted to give it 5 stars. The only thing I don't care for but can live with is the removeable lower paper tray. Whenever you want to print on a CD/DVD you have to remove and reposition the lower paper tray. It is hard to line up the holes unless you are exactly at eye level with a lot of light. I do not recommend this priter for use by senior citizens with arthritis. The R320 & R340 you didn't have to remove anything. Everything was integrated. Except for this design flaw I would rate this printer higher. Otherwise a truly great printer!!!

Epson Artisan 50 Inkjet Printer

Have only had this Epson printer for a week or more. It prints well and it prints fast The only negative things I can say is that it is rather noisy and for some reason you can not set it to see a preview of the print on a permanent basis. You have to set it each time which is not only a nuisance but is easily forgotten since my previous Epson printers allowed me to do this.

Followed instructions and could not install drivers. Contacted support and got nothing that helped. If you have windows7 64 bit, look elsewhere.
