So far so good! I am very happy with the CD/DVD printing. Really far and superior to making stickons which really do stick in car cd players and in my wife's TV DVD player. The idea of being able to change just the one ink cartridge instead of all of them is a huge plus!
As for the realiability of the equipment, time will tell. This is a real bargin for Me. Have shown its capability to others and they cannot belive the price. Thank you.

Well, I was skeptical, I had an epson R220 and was using it for DVD/CD Printing as well as standard printing untill it finally died. I looked and looked to find an updated printer to replace it but all the reviews on the current printers for DVD/CD printing stunk. I finally caught this new one and decided to give it a try. It's an excellent printer for either DVD/CD or standard printing. It has efficent use of printer ink that I haven't found in a newer printer in quite a while. Love this printer

Great Unit

I have used an Epson R340 for a number of years however after printing probably 1800 to 2000 CD, it began to give me a little trouble with the CD tray..printing great otherwise. So I began looking for another printer that prints directly on CD 's. I purchased the Artisan 50 directly from Epson and have printed probably 150 CD in the past 2 weeks and it has worked flawlessly.

My best printer buy
on August 6, 2010

I purchased the Artisan 50 originallyl to print text and save ink on my larger printer. When I needed to print a color 8 X 10 I thought I would just see how good a print the machine could make. With only Adobe Gamma as the calibration I made a test of a Macbeth Test chart, I was amazed at how close the result was to the original.
Another feature, when the ink was low and I was printing text, a window opened to tell me I was low on ink but if I wanted the machine could print using the other colors. A yes answer ended with an acceptable copy.
The standard ink cartridges gave what I think is a fair amount of printing. In the future I will purchase the larger units. It would be easier if I could purchase them locally instead of only through Epson. Is there a reason for this policy?
Finally, for the price of the machine and how well it performs, I would not only suggest that friends should consider the Artisan 50,I have convinced several to purchase the unit.
This machine as an only Black and White printer would
fill a gap that many of us are waiting for.

Epson Artisan 50 after a month

The Artisan 50 is easy to set up. The print is clear and dark.
It is a little noisy. The looks are very sleek and compatible with any combination of equipment. Yet to try photo feature or experience long term use. I have to determine if Artisan 50 use of ink is excessive as experienced by several other user comments. I would also like the Artisan 50 to be wireless. Overall, I am very pleased with Artisan 50.

Follow-up On The Ink....
on August 10, 2010

Not sure why my first review hasn't shown up yet? I was concerned about ink consumption, especially after reading other reviews that were less than positive in this area. Well.....after using the Artisan 50 for 2 weeks now - I have printed about 125 discs (mostly full-color) and I am astonished at how little ink has been used. Right now the ink indicators show that black is about 50% used and the remaining colors about 15%.
I am getting absolutely great results (was using an R200 the past 6 years) and love this printer.
I am NOT so thrilled with my Epson NX415 when it comes to ink - that printer is a VAMPIRE and just sucks the ink out of the cartridges. I think the difference is that the Artisan 50 can utilize the high capacity ink tanks (77) in addition to the regular capacity ink tanks (78). I will gladly spend the extra money and purchase Epson 77 ink cartridges. The NX415 does not have an option to use high capacity ink and now makes a good buy not worth the cost of the ink to use it.
My advise on Epson Ink Jet printers is to make sure you get one that can use high capacity ink cartridges.

I wanter a printer that would print on CD's and DVD's. Print quality on the DVD's are fantastic. Very easy to set up and use.
I've owned other Epson printers in the past and have always had good luck with them.
