Female Rapper Review

I'm an entertainer and often times produce my own materials such as fliers, CD inserts, magnets, business card, etc.. I was looking for a printer that I could use to print up Cd's and CD covers along with bar codes and qr code directly to the CD. When I first bought the printer, I thought to myself.. "What are you doing"? For the number of CD's that I wanted to print seemed silly at the time. I set the printer up which was easy to do. I had already gone and purchased a pack of Inkjet printable CD's and was ready to try my new printer. Just so that I could time it. I created a Michael Jackson Playlist and set it up in Windows Media Player and added it to the burn list. After successfully burning the disc. I placed it in the printer tray in the CD slot of the printer as directed, slid the CD into the CD tray and slid the tray into the printer until I felt it in place, which was a easy recognition. I created my CD creation using the software that came with the printer and printed the artwork to the CD! I was able to burn a disc and print to the front all within 7-10 mins. So I figured with a little organization. I could have a number of CD's done. Needless to say. I was able to print up 13 disc in a matter of 40 or so minuets including my qr code, title, all of my media information and CD inserts for some cute CD holder I purchased. For my position, It is perfect and I still use it to make cool promotional materials and the ink is not to costly when you purchase it online and especially if you get in the mailing list, which I normally don't do, but I'm glad I did. Sometime I get my ink and other product so cheap that I don't have to buy anymore more up to 3 months. So just thought I would write my little review my printer. Thanks. Bye. Loyal aka Loyality

Nice littlel printer

Easy to setup and it works well. I wouldn't recommend printing a high volume of DVDs. It would take a while. The printing is rather slow.
I've had a little trouble switching between DVD and regular printing. The tray has to be repositioned each time and I had to remove and reinsert a few times to get it to show "ready".
Over-all it seems to be working well and the quality of the printing is good.

The printer does print quality; however, when you try to put the front tray in the cd position the warning lights blink. This happened the third time I used it. I started printing and I got an error that the tray was not in the right position. I put it in as shown in the directions and in the online directions to no avail. Removed the tray from the bottom slot to the top as directed and error! Now, I have 20 CDs to label and have no printer. Only had the printer for a little over a week. So sad:-(. Couldn't find troubleshooting directions.

Great printer!

I picked up an Artisan 50 specifically for its ability to print directly on CDs and DVDs. I'm very happy with the job it does. The discs come out crystal clear, with text and graphics sharply defined and exactly where I wanted them. I don't believe I could ask for a better printer, especially in this price range.

Great Printer

For the past 8 years I've used Epson printers exclusively to print directly onto CD/DVD media starting with the R200 in 2004, followed by the R260 and R280, and now this Artisan 50 is the next in the line of succession. This printer is a great cost-effective way to print onto CD/DVD media. It's very easy to use and the print quality is excellent as well -- I highly recommend it.

Very Pleased

I purchased this printer for one specific task, to print onto CD and DVD discs, I couldn't have been more pleased with my purchase.
First, the setup was soooooo simple. The software did everything for me, I only had to answer a few preference questions. Inside of 30 minutes from opening the box, I was printing my first disc and when it popped out.... so did my eyes. I had to touch the disc over and over to see if my creation was true. Thank you Epson for providing an affordable printer with disc labeling capabilities for the not so wealthy. From now on my discs will have a professional look to them instead of using paper labels (still not a bad way to go).

Print Quality Degrades Quickly
on September 1, 2012

It is the beginning of September, 2012 and I'm getting ready to submit a warranty claim on my second Artisan 50 of this year. This one was purchased on March 16, 2012, and it printed beautifully for a while. Then it started depositing ink on the CD tray edges, then smears of ink on the print rollers, then ink blobs on CDs, and now ink smears at the top and edges of what ever the print area is. No amount of cleaning fixes these problems.

I had the old version, 280 for a long time and it was quite fickle as it got older and finally I had had enough as it would constantly go into error mode.
I have been using the 50 now and so far so good. It is faster than its predecessor. It is smooth and neat. The price was right for this type of printer as I use it mainly for printing on DVDs. We shall see with time how this goes but I am optimistic
