I bought this as a replacement for my 3 year old R280 which just died. Initial setup was a nightmare, 3 install and uninstalls and finally had to call in and he had me redo things 3 times to get it up and running. Now that it is running it is great. It is pretty much the same as my old one with several slight improvements. It seems to print faster than its predecessor, with less hesitation between prints. I am very pleased with the performance so far.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Artisian 50 - One of the few printer that I have had no problems with before (this is my 4th printer from Epson) Had minor problem with this uinit and Epson stepped up and fixed it at once. The cd/dvd tray works every time and the print quality is the best I have ever had. Ease of use 5 stars, ease of setup 5 stars, the only down side that I could ever think about is the amount of ink that I use (I do a lot of printing), and there is no high capacity cartridges - would highly reccomend to anyone.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Epson Artisan 50 Inkjet Printer

I recently became the happy owner of the above-referenced printer. Regrettably, my previous workhorse, the Epson Stylus Color 860, which I loved, bit the dust when a replacement printhead no longer was available. I was deeply saddened as I loved the quality. After consulting with Epson, the Artisan 50 was recommended. Although I have yet to put it through it's full paces, it appears to be better than comparable to my previous Epson. Set-up was quite easy and the quality of the output is excellent.

This is my third Epson printer over the years and I have been happy with all three. When my last one died last week after about six years of continual use I knew I wanted to replace it with another Epson.
This printer is our home printer, meaning we use it for documents, homework and photos. I assumed it would be fine for documents but was truly amazed at the quality of the photos it has been producing. It's even better than my last two, and I was quite satisfied with them.
What I like most is that the photos come out beautifully without all the tweaking many of my friends talk about with their printers. (Not Epsons)
I could go on and on about the true colors and such but let's just say I know this will not be my last Epson.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I Can't Believe It!

I have struggled for several years with another brand's printers. Finally, I gave up and took the last one to the recycler. Short of money, I bought about the least expensive Epson's I could find with good reviews for printing pictures. The Artison 50 was it. The setup went smoothly and the printer worked well right off the mark. Color pictures are beautiful, even on the other brand's leftover paper.
The only glitch was that I made the mistake of checking to see if there is an upgrade for the driver. This sent me into a never-never land and I had to reload from the disk. Someday I will learn to leave well enough alone. Nevertheless, I can't believe what a good job it does. I am very happy with it and gladly recommend it.

If you get it to work, it works very well. The problem is getting it to work! Had to return the first one and Epson replaced it. The replacement also fails to work so far. It misreads the fact that I want to prent a CD and tells me to add paper. So far, I have not been able to make it work. It even reads new printer cartridge as empty. Never had so much trouble with a new printer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I was shopping for a printer, mainly to print old family photographs. I Had a budget. Doing research took me about 3 months. I can only say this printer takes my breath away. Moderately priced top quality. I would recommend this printer !!
