Inaccurate color reproduction, size discrepancies

On the good side, this printer is mechanically sound, and works well on both paper and CD/DVDs. The biggest problem I've found is that it does not reproduce colors accurately. I bought this printer to replace an Epson R320, which faithfully printed what I saw on the screen. This results in waste of paper, as printing is the only way to see what you will actually get. Also, I find slight size discrpeancy between what the size I set, and the size it prints. If I print with borders, the object is too small, if I print borderless the object is too large. I primarily use the paper feed for printing CD jewel case inserts, and they have to be tweaked to find the right size, rather than printing the standard 4.75" x 4.75", as is set in my graphics software..

Its sad that Im only giving this product 1 star. When I first received it and set it up, it worked perfectly and the prints were very nice considering, it is a budget printer. Now, one and a half weeks later, its giving me problems. After turning it on and giving it a little while to warm up, I keep getting a "Not Ready to print" message in the Epson print window, and it never goes away to become "ready for printing". This is a single funtion inkjet printer and it is not rocket science to have it working properly. I tried all the standerd procedures; plug-unplug the USB, plug-unplugg the printer, and now am going to re-install the software again. If that doesn't work I'm on the phone to customer service. Why should us costumers have to jump through hoops for such a simple operation.

New and didn't work

After meticulously following the setup instructions, the Artisan 50 would not print. An error message reading "Printer doesn't recognize print cartridges" appeared even-though they were new Epson cartridges right out of the box.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This contraption is the most frustrating printer I have ever had the misfortune of owning. I have windows 7 professional and have downloaded and reinstalled this printer numerous times. Many times I am unable to print even one DVD and have to attempt to get it to print again.
I had a r220 before that worked like a dream and I couldn't get it to work with windows 7.

annoyed that the cd is for windows xp and after having problems, and chekcing the website it states not to install it. what gives?
Before I was to print but the quality was nto there when using HP paper.
I was able to print, but now I get an error messgae. Sorry I bought it.

Love our Printer

A lot of factors were involved in purchasing this printer. It was wireless (works great and I love the fact that we can place it anywhere in our house). It is fast. It prints on CD's/DVD's (big factor for us), and as we found out during the installation, the directions were VERY easy to understand. We are having a good time with it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great For CD's

Just unpacked it! Set up was very easy and ink installation was also easy. Bought it for CD printing and WOW! it was great. Designed it in the software that came with it in less than 10 minutes. Just what I wanted! Quiet, too. Printed out one picture and quality was excellent. Great machine!
I would recommend this to a friend!
