Where's the Viewfinder????
on March 26, 2009

Why oh why does Canon make cameras without a viewfinder?? I don't care how good a camera's LCD is, in bright sunlight, most are worthless. Plus, for "real" photographers, it's harder to frame a photo using the LCD screen, as well as hold the camera steady at arm's length.
Please Canon, I want a 10x+ zoom Point & Shoot 10+meg. pocket-sized camera, bit I guess this one isn't it.
Cons: no viewfinder
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Canon Please Do Better

After a month of trying different setttings trying to improve picture quality, I finally gave up and returned it. While some images were superb, most were off slightly - a little blur, hazy or colors were washed. This is my seventh Canon non-SLR camera. The SD870 was by far my favorite and it took better pictures more consistently even on Auto. Though the one area that the SX200 did well was with the zoom - far superior to other cameras in this range. I replaced the SX200 with the A2000IS. Initial results are promising though it has some negative issues like flash recycle time. Picture quality is most important to me and the first few pics appear to be good. It's cheaper a little smaller than the SX200 too.
Canon, please bring back the SD870! 8 or 10 megapixels for small cameras is all you want, beyond that you compromise picture quality with too much noise. All or most of the new SD cameras are 12MP. I think Canon finally understands, the flagship G10 had 14MP and the new G11 has 10....
Pros: Bright LCD
Cons: Difficult to use, Poor image quality, Heavy/Bulky
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

maybe faulty?

I purchased this camera back in November just to have an additional camera that was lightweight and easy to take along anywhere. I also have a Canon TSI and thought I'd stick with another Canon. Every picture was HORRIBLE. The ISO setting was so high on the auto select feature that all of my pictures are wasted. The greens look yellow or lime in color and the pinks and reds are all hot pink or magenta in color. Perhaps this camera was faulty.? I sent it back and I'll wait until I find something else on the market to try.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use

SX200IS is a JUNK. I want my money back

I took 800 pictures in 6 weeks and very disappointed with the results. This camera takes terrible pictures. The picture quality is non-existence. Auto focus never focus correctly. Pictures are very grainy. Colors are not sharp and clear. Almost half of the pictures I took are worthless. This is a terrible purchase. My old cell phone with 0.3 Mega pixel camera took better pictures. I WANT MY MONEY BACK.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Bright LCD
Cons: Poor image quality, Poor Low-Light Performance, Short battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
