Almost Perfect Camera
on January 4, 2010
Posted by: Indigo
I like everything about this camera except low light performance. Pictures in any other conditions are bright, crispy-clean, lively, deep and reach. Stabilzation for 12x Zoom just great! I love color accent feature - it's real fun! Pop-up flush is not a problem - it is easy (and not harmful for a camera) just to push it down with a finger when needed without changing the flash settings. It is very hard to go wrong with Canon.
Pros: excellent image quality, Excellent Color Reproduction, great image stabilization effect, fancy and sleek design
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance

How many features does this thing have?
on January 25, 2010

This is probably the best bang for your buck when it comes to camera buying. Its compact (enough), and truly delivers when it comes to versatility. In other words, if there was a contest for "best camera that can still fit in your pocket" this thing would take the cake. I love the timed exposure, the facial recognition, and the amazing resolution... especially with HD video!
HOWEVER... I have treated this camera like gold- its never been dropped or hurt in any way - and I've only owned it for about a month, but just now I picked it up and noticed a loud rattling noise coming from within the camera. And when I turn the camera on, and the lens pops out, the sound goes away. Thats actually why I'm on this website now, is to see if this is a reccuring problem.
Anyway, I'm sure my issue is an isolated one, and I'll be sure to contact Canon about any warranty issues. But the bottom line: this camera is everything, and then some. Its got every advanced feature you could ask for in a camera, but with the everyday usability of a compact point-and-shoot. Bravo, Canon!
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu
Cons: Difficult to use, Flimsy Construction

Canon SX200 is very nice
on January 27, 2010

recently purchased Canon Powershot SX200; find the camera easy to use and pictures of high quality; like the lens wideangle of 28mm; it does not have two minor items I used extensively on other cameras; a method of attaching verbal memos and a viewfinder for bright days where using the lcd for composition is iffy; some of the advanced features are overly complicated to access
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
Cons: missing viewfinder, missing verbal memo feature

My Christmas Present to Myself
on March 19, 2010

While Christmas shopping, I happened to see the Powershot sx200IS at Costco's and seeing that we are planning a trip to Europe in the Spring and my old camera is getting a bit undependable, I decided to purchase this camera. In January my granddaughter was in a play and I had the opportunity to put the camera to the test. During rehearsals I shot over 500 pictures using the ISO 3200 setting and they turned out great. They have just a little noise in them but all in all I am very pleased with them. The shutter was fast enough that it was not a problem shooting moving people and there was no disturbance with a flash going off. I love the 12x optical zoom which really does zoom 12x without blurring. The battery has a pretty long life between charges - better than the AAA batteries that I was using in my last camera but I do miss my view finder and have a difficult time seeing the LCD screen in bright light.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, excellent image quality
Cons: Dim LCD, no view finder

Great Point and Shoot Camera
on August 25, 2010

Purchased this as a replacement for a trip to Ireland. The 12x Optical zoom is fantastic. I was also impressed by the shutter speed, low light performance and battery life. I was pleased with the outputs available (mini HDMI and USB). The camera has a slightly bigger footprint, but it still fits in a pocket. LCD screen and menu and control wheel make it easy to review pictures\movies on the fly.
The flash is different than other cameras I have owned in that it pops up, and you need to be aware of how you are holding the camera when powering it on\off. After the first couple uses you will have no problem.
Used this camera to document the entire trip: dark castles, scenic cliffs and landscapes as well as people. I was extremely pleased with the results.
Pros: easy to use, good battery life, simple controls

Great Camera!
on December 9, 2009

This camera's great; I normally carry around an SLR camera, but I've gotten sick of lugging the whole thing around with me, so I wanted a point and shoot that still gave me versatility. It has the manual option and all the other great features canon point and shoot cameras offer. I love it and have recommended it to quite a few people!
Pros: Good Low-Light Performance, excellent image quality, durable, easy to use
Cons: flash stays up even if you're not using it
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Camera
on August 2, 2010

I am a novice photographer and was looking for an all around camera for the family. Also wanted greater zoom capabilities compared to earlier cameras that we owned. As far as I'm concerned, this camera has worked wonders. The AUTO setting is great if you just want to point and shoot, and the other settings such as landscape, portrait, etc. apparenty tweak settings 'behind the scenes' and I have rarely been disapointed with the results. We are now experimenting with the manual control features and having lots of fun! The micro setting for very close pics is a nice feature. The 12x optical zoom combined with the 12 mega pixels is something else. We were in Yosemite National Park last week, at the top of the valley at Glacier Point. My son zoomed in on some bikers on the valley floor (3,200 ft down, and about 2,000 out) and we could almost read the writing on their jerseys. Getting great shots and having lots of fun with this camera.
Pros: easy to use, great zoom, great resolution
Cons: none as far as i'm concerned
I would recommend this to a friend!
