Purchased because traveling with my SLR (Rebel) with lenses etc, became impratical for my business travel. Still I wanted versatile optics. Could not be happier with this model. Am amzaed by the overall device and the lens in particular. 28 mm aperature, wide angle and an amazing 12x optical zoom. I've made high quality macros, high-quality wide angles, and high-quality zoomed-in shots.
Found software a little goofy so I don't use it but can transfer trhough Windows directly or plug the SD card into my pc (unlike my Rebel which requires reformatting between PC and camera).
Battery life has been great. The LCD display is huge. The whole package is attractive.
Most importatnly, the lens gives me everything I need.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: software

Great Point and Shoot

I've tried other brands but similar camera's and this one's the best. Excellent picture quality and loaded with features for the money. Aside from the flimsy feel of the USB connector cover, this model feels solid and durable. I carry it with me almost every day.
A recent beach trip with friends found me in a shootout for the best picture of a beautiful sunset descending behind billowy clouds. My friend had an older more expensive DSLR (no live view) and we both raced to get the fabulous scene as it unfolded. I put the SX into "sunset" mode and started clicking. The LCD image showed me what I was shooting and adjustments were easy and effective. The results were impressive. The DSLR shots were crisp but never captured any of the drama or color. The quality of the SX200 was evident in the pictures. I got rave reviews on the color and the composition and a high five from the DSLR user, even a compliment saying "the image quality was as good as the DSLR. " Now, if only the camera had a polarizing filter mode.
The movie mode with a functioning zoom feature is a definite plus.
I made the review 4 stars because of the flimsy USB door. If it breaks, the connectors will be highly susceptible to dirt and damage.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, active zoom in movie mode
Cons: flimsy usb cover door

EXCELLENT compact Camera

I've had pretty much all the latest Canon point and shoot cameras (the S2 IS, the S3 IS, The S5 IS, and the SX 10 IS) and also the Rebel XSi...all were exceptional cameras but a bit heavy for travelling. I wanted a camera that shared the same features as these and when the Canon SX 200 came out, it was the answer to my prayers. It's compact, lightweight, has a great movie mode.I bought the optional HD cable and the pictures/videos are UBELIEVABLE on my HDTV. The settings are almost identical to the Sx10. Picture quality is exceptional and I have no complaints about low light situations. (I leave it on Program and set the ISO to 400 for such conditions). As always, Canon does not dissappoint when it comes to "action" shots...I rarely use the Optical zoom when in movie mode, as the camera itself is 12 x zoom to begin with and that gives me plenty of close-up without the optical zoom. My only complaint is that I prefer using AA rechargable batteries to Lithium. And while I can appreciate the Auto Flash Pop-up (The SX10 flash had to be manually lifted and I often missed shots because I'd "forget" to pull up the flash)...it is in an awkward position as it is directly under your left index finger when taking a shot. It seems Canon should've put it more in the center of the camera so it wouldn't interfere with your fingers. Minor complaints, but ones that keep the camera from being "PERFECT"!
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, automatic flash pop up
Cons: auto. flash pop-up in an awkward positon, prefer rechargeable aa batteries

Best camera I have ever owned.

After doing extensive research, this camera was the one that won on so many levels. It offered great zoom capabilities (which was important to me) and also 12.1 megapixels which help with picture clarity. There are many controls to use and they are relatively easy. I have taken so many pictures. Everyone asks me what I think of my camera and the answer is always the same, I absolutely love it. This camera is definitely worth the money. The one suggestion is to get a fast memory card. It will make taking pictures fun and easy.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Short battery life

I was and still am very happy with this camera as a birthday gift! I'm very satisfied with how it meets my needs and being able to catch moments of my son while on the move, etc. It's fantastic! I realise that it may not meet some people's satisfaction, but for me, it certainly did. It's easy to utilize with a minimum of confusion and ease of usage.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable

I bought the PowerShot SX200 because I needed a compact camera with a better zoom and would also take better indoor pictures in low light. This camera is great for both reasons. I can zoom further and the pictures are still clear and I can also see the pictures taken in low lit rooms.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, durable, slideshow setting
Cons: pop up flash

If You don´t want to handle a SLR, but You are interested in a lot of advanced features (except the possibility of changing lenses) the SX200IS is the right choice to You!
