Bought this remote yesterday, charged up batteries and completed set up.Worked for 6hrs,now the only thing that works is the backlight on the display panel and the buttons light up,nothing else! Pretty disappointing for a remote that costs over $100.00!

If you're upgrading from any of the earlier versions of the harmony line, eg. = harmony 550 or harmony xbox360, this unit will definitely be a plus. BE WARY that if you had a remote with the capacity of more than 6 remotes, after replacing the old remote, this one will transfer all of the previous ones, the unit will not function properly though. until you remove the extra remotes. I figure this is a memory issue and that logitech hasn't realized that this is an issue yet. I am sure that as soon as logitech knows about it they will fix it. Otherwise, this is a great unit and if i remember to, i will update this review in a few weeks.
What's great about it: new soft touch buttons
What's not so great: if upgrading from an older remote that has more devices than 6 the unit will not function properly

A miracle has happened! I programmed a remote control that controls everything on our home theater system! it's a Logitech Harmony 700 from best buy on sale for $135 bucks and it even works the karaoke and PC inputs. Logitech's website will tell you which remotes will support your systems components, before you buy. ( see link below) The buttons are the remote are right were they should be, it's very economical and very intuitive. when you pick up the remote to look at it the back-lite automatically comes on, Wooo!, and once's it's programmed, the keys will be set to work the active device, such as your satellite, or DVD , blueray, etc. etc.. etc...!!!! One button press turns on and switches all the video and audio inputs to the desired function! If it doesn't, then you hit the "HELP" key on the remote, and follow the easy prompts, such as is the TV ON, Is the input set to DVD? etc.. You dont have to have knowledge of how the components have been connected. Your 65 year old mother will be able to handle it!!! Now it's smart and remembers what you just did to it , and next time it will work on the fly! You program the remote, via your PC's using the USB cable plugged into the remote, The process is very fluent, just follow the prompts to get the basic functions working, However you can spend a lot of time to customize the remote. It can learn any missing key functions from your old remotes. It's incredible, Way to go Logitech! Way awesome!!! My 30 year Quest to find a remote that works everything has Ended, I would be happy with just that, but the one button press to set all the devices to the desired activity and just automatically work, was way over the top, and I cannot express how excited I am about this remote!!! Way to go logiTech!!! :-)
P.S. Once you've purchased the remote, you will install the software on you pc, which will take you to logitech's website to create a free account that will keep your remotes setup.
What's great about it: Works all my deviice, Logitech's website will Confirm this before you buy.
What's not so great: No CON's, except I just bought the remote, so i dont know about durability.

I needed a second universal remote. I have had a Harmony for several years and I am sold on them. Adding or replacing components is easy thanks to the computer interface.
I was trying to decide which contoller to buy when the 700 went on sale. At $120 I couldn't turn this down. I set it up to run a Samsung plasma, AT&T Uverse box, a Yamaha receiver and a Sony BluRay. It worked perfectly. I went back and customized a couple of buttons to work better with the Uverse and BluRay and it is fairly straightfoward. It is a bit of a hassle to run two remotes off the same Logitech software page but it isn't impossible. They could make that a little more user friendly.
If you haven't tried the Harmony remote, this is a great one to start with. I haven't meet anyone that owns one and regrets the purchase.

I have been using the Logitech 700 remote for about a month with my simple setup: Samsung 46" LED 120Hz AT&T U-verse digital set top IPTV/DVR Sony Playstation 3 MS Xbox 360
I gravitated to this remote because of its price (I have only those few devices to tie together) and because of Logitech's well-received software and device database.
While it took some reading of the forums there, before purchasing I was able to use Logitech's website to confirm support for all of my devices by entering their manufacturer part numbers.
When I got this remote home, it was a matter of taking it out of the box, installing the Logitech software from the CD, entering my device part numbers, and answering a few confirmation questions for each "Activity". In my case the software made it's own decisions about what devices to assign to "Activity" function buttons.. for instance, while "Watching TV", the volume buttons send signal to the TV, while pretty much every other button send signal to the AT&T set top.
Once set up the remote will take care of everything for you. I assigned my PS3 to "Watch a Movie", and my XboX to "Play Music" (just using what they give me). When I switch between "watch TV" and watch movie, the AT&T box powers down, the TV changes input and the PS3 gets powered on.
All of the buttons work with the PS3 and XboX360 and my digital set top. Using the software to map "deep" functions (normally accessed through the LCD) to regular buttons is pretty easy, just switch tabs on the main screen, select the activity and assign/re-assign the "real" buttons as desired.
It is great that it works with the PS3, but the price of the Bluetooth adapter felt about $20 too high. (The remote is all IR, and uses a special adapter to bind with the PS3).
I am still impressed with how I had my basic set up ready to go and working in about 30 minutes with this Logitech. The price and unnecessary complexity of other universals had abated my interest in this market.
This remote looks and feels almost like a regular cable remote. You have to make sure the device is pointed in the right direction when buttons are pressed, but this thing just WORKS.
For me this was a no fuss situation that relieved my living room of 3 remotes. It really does tie the room together.
What's great about it: Price, Familiar form, uncluttered buttons, works with everything, all functions!
What's not so great: Cannot charge in-remote and use sumultaneously, PS3 Adapter not cheap

This remote is neat. I finally got fed up dealing with four remotes and bought this thing. I bought the adapter for the PS3 as well, which I highly recommend. I really enjoy that, during setup, you can decide which devices control volume and channel changing, and so forth. There's not switching the remote to the A/V receiver to change the volume and then switching it back to the cable box to change the channel, like a typical universal remote. I press the volume buttons and the receiver turns up and down, I press channel, and the cable box changes channel. Very convenient. The option to put an icon on the favorite channel screens is pretty slick, too. The fit and finish of the remote and system is superb.
The setup program did not quite know how my TV worked and so the activity buttons did not properly switch the TV inputs. I had to call support to get the problem fixed. I was referred to "second level" support and was on hold for about 35 minutes before I spoke with the very helpful and knowledgeable tech guy. He fixed my problem, and actually streamlined the overall function of the activity buttons.
Once I got all the aspects of the remote working well, it's great.
What's great about it: Feels nice in the hand, light up buttons, versatile screen, great functionality
What's not so great: generally need to use both hands to get at all the buttons, setup was tedious no Wii connectivity

The remote set up very easily for my Sony TV, Comcast DVR and Sony BluRay with Wifi. Remember to turn off Norton Antivirus when communicating with remote the first time. Set up with my in-law's new Insignia TV, Insignia Bluray, and Dish DVR was another story. Dish DVR was not in database and requried telephone help. Source switching on Insignia TV wouldn't work when TV was started from off state. Turns out the TV takes 10 seconds to warm up befor it would read the change source signal! Holding down the "Help" button to go into advanced delay mode and changeing the TV to 10 seconds fixed it. (you have to aim the remote at the tv for those 10 seconds). A tribute to Harmony for having the flexibility to handle this for slow start up TVs. Telephone tech help was immediate and very helpful.
What's great about it: Easy setup, great support, remote database
What's not so great: No one button direction to wifi stations like Netflix? Minor

I purchased this remote for my husband for Father's day. We kept seeing commercials for it so I decided it was time to lose the 5 remotes that we were currently using for our different systems. The twins' grandmother could never get a DVD to work when she was watching the girls which lead to screaming babies!
I was a little intimidated at first and kept putting off the set up. When I finally sat down and did it, it was so easy. All you needed was the brand name and model numbers of your products. It took maybe about 20 minutes to get everything set up and in working order. I wish we had bought this remote sooner!
What's great about it: Can suport up to 6 devices, easy to use and set up
