Not so great at all. My first impression with this remote was that it was pretty darn fantastic! My husband did some research and declared this was the way to go for a Universal remote that was priced well and performed well. Initially I really hated having to get used to how it was programmed, but that was more me and not really the remote. I did like how it was able to put our DVR and TV all together and I could control most everything. This was especially nice considering we have a Phillips TV that is about 10 years old and when we wanted to toggle between HDMI (for the PS4) and AV1 for the DVR/Cable, I now could handle it through one remote.

The downside was that in about 9 months the remote would no longer hold a charge and became another paper weight in my living room. We are back to the two remote system and on the hunt for a good rechargeable battery for this remote to see if we can resurrect it. I am giving it two stars because I honestly expect the rechargeable batteries to last longer than 8 months and it's annoying that they do not.

The Most Practical for My Needs

I used to have a Harmony One. Had it for a long, long time. Went through various batteries. But after at least 10 years of hitting the floor, grimy fingers (ribs) and general wear and tear, it was time for a replacement. I actual purchased one of the high end Harmony remotes (2 separate ones) and returned each for the same reason. They did more than I needed and where not as functional in a simple manner. Extra buttons, lack of buttons, uncomfortable shape . . . there was nothing about them that compared to the harmony one. So I saw the 700 on line at Best Buy. It looked like the harmony one. What it lacks is the cool touch screen my one had, but aside from that I am very pleased. It controls all of my devices (iPod connected to receiver, receiver, cable box, Roku, MacBook Pro, DVD player and Xbox). Every thing works well. Again the only thing I miss is my touch screen and a the charging cradle.

Before purchasing I was scared it would be impossible for me to figure out how to program and use this remote. I couldn't have been more wrong. The MyHarmony app walks you through everything step by step. I get so many compliments when I have guests about how easy this remote is to use. I also love that you can program your favorite channels on your remote to show their logos! The battery is also very long-lasting. I only have to charge my remote about every six months.

I reviewed several remotes for my home theatre. The remote fits well on the hand, navigation is a breeze, the configuration is fun and not complicated. No need for the other remotes. just don't lose the rechargeable batteries or you will not be able to charge with supplied cable, however you can use non rechargeable batteries.

Customer service horrible

I have owned many harmony remotes however this one doesn't compare to the others. The remote itself is nice and there's a chance I have a dud, but the customer service will not help. The remote won't charge and has error saying unable to charge batteries. I've called customer service time and time again, spending a lot of time on hold, and the only solution is to send a different charging cord. It has not helped and they won't replace. Don't buy this rechargeable one find another.
