I am fairly happy with this product. There were only a couple of problems. First, there is an issue with the backlighting. Below the LCD, everything is great; however, everything from that point up is dark. This includes all of the activity buttons, which makes no sense at all. Additionally, the remote would not program correctly for my Panasonic (DMR-ES40V) Recorder (DVD/VHS). This device is about four years old, so it doesn't seem unreasonable to expect it to work seamlessly with this remote.
We purchased it primarily to replace the four remotes in the living room for our TV (LG 42LE5400), VHS/DVD Recorder (Panasonic DMR-ES40V), DirecTV DVR (R15-500 ), & Home Theater Receiver (RCA RT2350). The initial setup was practically a breeze. All I had to do was select each component by manufacturer and model number, then answer a few questions about our home theater configuration.
I was also interested in replacing the two remotes in our home office for our TV/DVD/VCR (Toshiba MW20F11) and DirecTV Receiver (Samsung SIR-S300W). I was very pleased to find that it not only worked perfectly, but also flawlessly works in the master bedroom on our TV/DVD (Toshiba MD20F11) and DirecTV Receiver (Samsung SIR-S300W). What a bonus!
I was able to place a total of eight remotes in semi-permanent storage! It may take a while, but I bet it will pay for itself by saving all those batteries I've been having to replace. We should've done this a long time ago!
What's great about it: It was fairly easy to program.
What's not so great: Buttons beside, and also above, the LCD are not backlit!

I bought this remote for a client of mine at first. Not knowing how well it would actually work, I gave it a chance. After setting up this remote (which was the only time consuming and kind of a pain in the butt part) i was amazed at how well everything functioned together for once. I was able to rid them of 4 remotes and down to only 1. It has been a life saver. I loved the remote so much I purchased one for myself. I was able to get rid of 4 remotes of my own. It worked with all electronics I had successfully. The Activities option is one of the best features I believe. i was even able to connect it to the Xbox and control the device. Over all I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has multiple remotes for your viewing pleasures.

This is the first harmony remote I've bought and am very pleased. I have it configured to work with my Sony TV, PS3, Xbox 360, Yamaha audio receiver, DIRECTV receiver, Apple TV, and Roku 2XS. I'm amazed it can control all those products. It's nice to have one remote lying around vice5 or 6. Additionally, it comes with rechargeable batteries.
What's great about it: Compatible with many products
What's not so great: Can't think of anything off-hand

Superior remote, easy to use, setup, change, adapt, and update. While a little on the pricey side, it does everything it claims. I wish it was made from more durable materials that handle being dropped off the couch and more dog chew resistant. (90 pound black lab ate my last remote!)
What's great about it: Easy to set up and use
What's not so great: Not a durable as other units!

I bought this one which advertised AC adapter instead of the 650 battery source. What a stupid setup - I thought I would be getting a "standup" charger like my Panasonic phones. I will return and buy a 650 model. To recharge one has to use the smallest plug I've ever seem. Just useless.
I've worn out my old 650 and am trying to replace it.

This has been the best Universal remote i have ever purchased. Once you get used to the buttons it will turn on and off all electronic items. It take a little to set it up on your computer but once done. no need to do it again. I love it and i named it "Lucy" because it's so smart!

I really like this remote. Not only does it provide an amazing amount of flexibility in programing options, the Harmony 700 is very well balanced and features great ergonomics. The rechargeable batteries have held up for 2 or 3 months on a single charge, and I couldn't be happier about that. If you're thinking about controlling your PS3 during bluray/DVD movies you'll need a Logitech RF controller as the 700 model doesn't support bluetooth.
The only small drawback from this controller is that it only supports up to 6 devices at one time. Logitech's supported device database is quite extensive, and to my surprise, this controller can even control my Macbook laptop and my Apple TV unit. Though I currently only have 5 devices on my controller, I'm thinking about adding a multi disc bluray player that will finish the group off. Not having to keep up with 5 various remote controls is the only way to go!
Programing the controller for your specific functions is kind of tedious, so do know that not everything is plug and play. For instance, when controlling my Pioneer A/V receiver, I programed the four colored buttons in the middle (red, green, yellow and blue) to control my 3 HDMI inputs and 1 for my iPod controls. The arrow pad below it can process my song skipping and changing albums where as before the iPod controls were difficult. Once your devices are all setup, spend some time with your Harmony 700 and get to know what you do and don't like about the setup. From there, note the dislikes and look at programing your buttons through software to make everything how you like it. All in all, this is the best controller I've ever had.
What's great about it: The button layout and ergonomics are amazing
