This is the 2nd Logitech remote that I have owned. The set up is simple enough and if you like to tinker a bit, there are quiet a few neat things you can do with this device. I am however not a fan.
The construction of both of my Logitech remote controls were total garbage! Buttons markings wear off quickly. The micro usb slot is flimsy at best, and the IR range is very poor. My devices are controled much better with their stock remotes (perhaps jut the nature of the beast, but at over $100 I expect more!).
The color LCD screen is more of a gimick than anything...You can't change the color or customize the background. And the images shown on the packaging are GREATELY exagerated. Custom favorite chanel icons are a bit more difficult to install than they should be...on demand functionality for the cable company is dificult to program as a single keystroke!
Also the 700 can only control 6 total devices...if you have 7 devices tough luck...you will have to spend double your money for a harmony one!
What's great about it: Custimization
What's not so great: Construction-Durability
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This remote stopped holding a charge and when it loses its charge it deletes all programming! Bought it as a housewarming gift for my son and family and they hate it. We need to return it if I can locate the receipt.

Didn't work

I programmed it carefully with only 4 components, using the model numbers of the units. It would only turn on some of the components, then it had very minimal control over them. Not enough control to even change channels or play a DVD. It would not turn them all off. When I went back to the programming site, I could not log on again. After multiple tries I finally was able to get on and try again to reprogram the unit. I tried the IR unit to unit transfer, I tried the downloadable programming file, still no luck. After 3+ hours of fooling with it, I gave up. Lest you think I am computer illiterate, my continual use of computers goes all the way back to DOS and monochrome monitors. It is a great idea, but this product is a massive waste of time!
What's great about it: Great idea
What's not so great: Doesn't work... useless
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
