I had very good luck with my almost 10 year old Logitech (which still works by the way) but I needed the new version to be more compatible with the upgrades made to my home theater system (specifically the Smart TV features and functions) which came out after my previoius model. I bought this for my dad for Christmas and he loves it. He has a TV, set top box, A/V receiver, Blu-ray player, and a DVD/VHS combo player. I was able to create "activities" to control all of these.
