Worst Washer We Have Owned
on February 6, 2016

We bought this washer new several years ago and it has not cleaned since day one. Over the years it has been a extreme source of irritation to us, just the other day a pair of jeans went thru the wash cycle and came out with dirty knees which was easily wiped clean yet the washer did not clean them. Then we developed a problem with cycle starting before the tub filled, found out that you could bump the knob and solve the problem,

Junk -- don't waste your money on these

We are about 5 years into ownership on our Centennial and it's failed twice due to sensor or switch issues and now the transmission is going out. Really feel like it's a nice idea that has horrible reliability AND the fixes are not cheap. If I choose to fix the transmission I'll have more in repairs in this than I had in the initial purchase price. Add in the fact that the upper metal under the door is rusted badly in several places and it was a poor choice for the Kenmore it replaced. The only positive I have is that it does seem to save water but the wash cycles take twice as long as a standard washer so I'm not sure it's a fair trade.

Biggest piece of junk I've ever owned

I purchased this washer a few years ago and have had nothing but problems with it. I have had to replaced the sensor twice because the agitator would start thrashing the laundry as soon as I turned it on and before the tub had filled with water. This resulted in numerous damaged articles of clothing and other items. I am finding laundry not cleaned thoroughly and the washer dances around the basement floor constantly during the spin cycle, even after adjusting the load numerous times. After checking online, I discovered I was not alone. Site after site had threads about others who had purchased the same washer and were having similar problems. I always thought Maytag made Quality products, but this disappointing washer will have me thinking twice about ever buying one of their products again.

Half than expected life

Bought new very late in 2010 and lasted about 4 years then started to get louder and louder. Typical washer usages is 4 loads a week. Now at the 9 year mark the tub wobbles so bad that even when run empty it will walk across the floor in the spin cycle. I'm not sure how the 2x life is measured by Maytag but at 9 years that's a very short life for a $700 washer.

I have had the Centennial washer & dryer for 7yrs and they both work as good as the day we bought them! We do about 8 loads a week and occasionally the comforters off our beds. I will definitely purchase Maytag washer & dryer in the future. I do wish it had an option to manually set the water lever....However I think that is part of how it saves money thru Energy Star! This set works just as well if not better than my Mom's expensive set will all the bells & whistles @ half the cost!!!

We bought the Centennial Maytag Washer and Dryer approx 9 years ago. Both are still running strong. It's just my husband and I using it, and we have never had any problems with it. We are giving it to our daughter who is in need of a washing machine. I will totally clean it even around the outside of the tub by taking it apart. We also have pets so I'm sure there's dog hair and dust/lent. I believe this should last her at least another 5 years if not longer. Very Happy with this purchase.

I love my washer and dryer. You can not even hear it on except when it starts it's spin cycle. It's large capacity is Awesome. I can wash king comforters and blankets. No matter how large the load it comes out clean. I have never owned a washer and dryer that was as quite and cleaned as well as these. They where well worth my money.
