This unit did not quite meet my expectations. While the tuner is strongerr than 90% of the handheld brands, the sound quality was the same as the better brands (Sony Aiwa) that are not HD. The sound quality was no better than the cassette/am/fm units sold in the 1970's (with 2 fm and one am band and easier to program). The latest Sony Walkman (fm only) with the recordable feature can save a song or several hours of a radio broadcast with a longer battery life. The battery took too long to charge. My Golf Buddy gps unit charged faster after four hours of usage. The HD designation is no better than the quad sound manufacturers promised over stereo. I expected surround sound quality.
What's great about it: stronger tuner, protective carrier
What's not so great: short battery life, charging time, programming stations

Was really excited about my new radio. Distortion drives me crazy when I am trying to listen to music or commentary. I really wanted this to work because it would be so easy to take it almost anywhere. Unfortunately, I never got a sound out of it. Powers up, shows station on screen, and then shuts itself off. I exchanged it once, next one did the same thing. I will give the market some time to come up with a better product at a reasonable price.
What's not so great: doesn't work

Another HD Radio hoax. Unlike $10 analog pocket-radios, battery life and reception are poor on this portable HD radio. $50 bucks and it doesn't even include an MP3 player. Analog radios fade gracefully, while this one drops signals to silence, when out of range - just like the digital TV transition hoax. Also, hard to tune. I'll be returning this radio. Audio quality is worse than analog radio - sounds tinny.
What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: poor battery life and reception. Too expensive for just another radio

had to reset the unit already, good thing I had the book handy; charging on the computer works out fine; still listening almost exclusively to the same thing as I did before, it is nice to be able to see the song and artist displayed;maybe at some point in the future I'll use it with the headphones again but I truly prefer the speakers a friend gave me the plug in at the headphones spot, an option I wasn't aware of based on information provided with the unit
What's great about it: satisfied my curiousity about hd radio
What's not so great: until I added a set of spoeakers, only using headphones was annoying

I love this new device. I listen to a lot of radio, and like a lot of the HD Radio offerings out there. This thing fits into a pocket very well, it's smaller than your cell phone, and comes with an armband harness if you want to go that route.
What's great about it: Small size, good reception, good data display, easy to use
What's not so great: No way provided to plug the thing into a wall outlet to charge. Has a USB connection charger.

Live on the edge of town and this little radio picks up more stations than any of the 3 previous high dollar trys for quality reception. It is exceptionally stable, even on analog FM stations. The little ear speakers have super low base response. Cost is low becasue it does not come with a charger, but I use my computer USB port or my cell phone charger and it is full in about 1.5 hrs. The arm band is not elegant, and won't stay up in Texas heat. A lanyard hole would be an improvement, but for now using velcro on the back. Thanks Insignia for a really fine radio!
What's great about it: Excellent reception, great sound, easy to use
What's not so great: No simple way to attach the radio to my running or hiking clothing

I like the size and sound from this radio. Price was good for the quality of the reception. Not good reception in large buildings. Over all, very nice little radio. Highly recommend giving this a try.

Wasn't expecting too much for the low price. I was truly surprised to find my favorite HD radio station (available in HD only) came in loud and clear (golden oldies). I have 7 stations preset. Smooth Jazz is also HD only. I guess you have to be in an urban area to get my kind of reception, but for me, this is great. I connect it to my Bose radio and get the oldies for guests.

The radio won't even turn on. I have it connected to a known good charger and it won't turn on.
The Insignia web site calls copies of the setup guide and owners manual "Support" and there is no other information available. When I called Customer Support, they directed me to the web site.
When it was working, the radio would switch off HD even though I am 10 miles away from the radio tower. This is a residential area with no obstacles that would create interference. The Insignia "support" person told me to listen to the radio outside if I wanted a good signal.
Based on this product and Insignia's customer support, I will never buy another Insignia product of any kind.
What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: After about a month of poor performance, the radio died completely.
